New Deal For Jay Fulton

For some reason Fulton is maligned by a lot of our fanbase...yet ...Potter used him in midfield ahead of Grimes, Cooper our most successful manager since relegation recognised his talents and sought out a good contract extension...then the fraud Martin sought to dispose of him before realising his worth.
Widdel talks of Fulton in helping him settling in and deveolping here.
In my 50 plus years of supporting our team.I have witnessed fans derision of players and have been quilty myself of critiscism of players..whilst those same players were continously picked by managers ....proffesionals whilst we fans who knew better..continue to select these supposedly crap players.
Yes we fans can have opinions on players but the ones that count are the managers...who as the fraud Martin showed dont always get it right

His renewal was under Martin!
Let's not ignore the truth Vetch.

Ok Daps....but lets not forget..the Fraud wanted him out ...and most talk is about how his terms were improved under Cooper.
What thia does show is how every.manager has realised Fulton's worth....even the fraud...yet fans who know better still decry him

259 Championship appearances, 19 Premier League appearances, only 31 and a strong performer this season, cultural leader and featured in over 50% of our games this season.

No brainer. All squads need this type of player who are content with their role in the squad and won’t cause disharmony not starting every week. Good on Jay 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I can't disagree regards Martin wanting him out, I am not positive about that but the indications were that he did want him out but I believe that was due to a high wage he signed in 2021 and opening wages up for new arrivals.
He's been a consistent squad member and sounds like he is well thought of in and around the club. Fans will question if he could have offered more given his experience and if a renewal or even one of 2 years was warranted overall since his last renewal in 2021.

PS- My view is a contract is deserved but I have questioned the 2 years. I just want to put that over because things get a little lost with certain posters.

'For some reason'...come on, he's stunk the place out when he's played on many occasions over the last few years, not least the play off final. Utter dross. he's played well recently and there's no problem with extending from what we've seen recently. he needs to keep it going now he has his new deal. I don't doubt for a minute he's a good influence in the dressing room, I've never thought otherwise. So was Thomas Butler. We do need a senior pro that knows the club, so this looks a good move...if he keeps performing when it counts.

On a separate note, I was always disappointed that our poster Neil The Tailor, and Marcos The Painter, never went for Thomas The Butler.

All I'll say is.. Never really been a fan of Fulton. But have to give him credit. He has done well under Matos. And if it's reduced wages as well, he brings experience. It's win, win.

I argued before and continue to argue that Fulton had not actually played badly in that final. His red card was also incredibly unfortunate, his sliding tackle made contact with the top of the ball which in turn bounced his leading foot far higher than he had intended to which made the tackle look far worse than it actually was.

Reduced wages? Who's saying that? Surely he will be on the same as his last contract? I know for a FACT that his previous contract was very reasonable for both Jay and the hierarchy. If he took a reduction on his extension he'd be better off going back up the road.
Instead, some outlets try to get a headline.

Now, here's a scoop, JF will be sticking around long after his extension runs it's course. #bookmarkaway

Will almost certainly be a reduced salary at 31 going on 32. In football you won’t keep your same peak salary forever, it will peak in line with your peak years and decline in line with your twilight years. A contract taking him to 34 years old will certainly be reduced.

No chance Jay would get peak salary anywhere else so it’s best for him if he takes a reduced amount and guarantees a 2 year championship contract at a club he knows and is respected at.

You’re not taking in to consideration the financial reward that signing for an another club on free brings with it.

Agree about the final, at the time I thought he slipped as he went for the tackle.

Not seen it since

Absolutely this, Jay seems to get blamed by a lot of ‘fans’ for us losing that final. A freak of an outcome to his challenge for the sending off.
