Has this been a success this season?

Casey
Nunes
Yalcouye
Smith
Benson

Would you want any of them back on loan or permanent?

On the whole, it’s been disappointing. Not impacted us enough.

I like Casey, will be interested to see how his career goes. Not sure I’d put much effort into getting him back as I dont think he’s of the ball-carrying type we need.

I’ve come to appreciate Yalcouye more and more; principally his attitude. His desire to drive the ball forwards and play facing the opposition goal; something I notice and appreciate more than ever in a player in these times of backwards/sideways by default. Again, not sure he’d be top of any list of targets this summer though as he’s still a bit too raw.

Yalcouye I’d say was a success. Inconsistent but made an impact. Could have and probably should have had a few more starts.

Casey was good when he played.

It’s tough to say much about the rest because we didn’t see much of them really.

Casey & Smith did what was asked of them - both unfortunate that Cabango, Burgess & Tymon hardly missed a minute all season. Personally, I’d rather back our own youngsters moving forward but if either of those were available cheap/free then I wouldn’t say no if the manager wanted them as both showed potential.

Yalcouye a bit of an enigma, albeit I appreciate he’s very young. If Galbraith goes I wouldn’t be against him being one of 6 midfielders again - although having seen Woodward’s cameo yesterday I’d again prefer our youngsters to have a pathway.

The two wingers were a big let down. Expected them to improve the starting XI but contributed very little between them.

Without rehashing the discussion on the purpose of loan players, I’d rather us put all those wages into 1 player who significantly improves the team and rely on the U21 squad as cover elsewhere.

In order for me from worst to best:

Benson was absolutely awful, I am 43 and 20 stone and haven't done more than 10 minutes of exercise in any single given day for the last fifteen years and I am confident that I could have offered more than he did

Nunes started off very promising, some pacey direct dribbling sprints with the ball gave reason to be excited about him, but for whatever reason that energy quickly faded away. A couple of assists though

Casey to some extent can feel hard done by both by his loan spell and his rating by me but that's nothing to do with his performances. Sheehan preferred Cabango and Burgess ahead of him and by the time that Matos came in he had only about 5 or 6 weeks to steady the ship, get to know his players and become his own man in terms of picking the side he wanted. Loan cut short but he will have a successful career

Samuel Smith was raw but showed promise. Probably didn't get the game time he wanted but when your competition was the form left back in the division who made the Championship team of the season the best you can hope for is to learn from him than to force your way ahead of him in the reckoning.

Yalcouye had some highs and lows here, his red card was a moment of stupidity but some players either learn from those and grow or get crushed by them. He seems to be the former, and his return and first career goal was a highlight, he will definitely have a positive career be it at Championship level or higher

We definitely need better loan players in for next season, players that can have some impact on improving our first team . Coopers loan players were excellent, most of last seasons may have stayed at their original clubs , we hardly had any benefit from them.

Just Yalcouye for me. Inconsistent but he can offer something different

What does success look like to you? None of them have been regulars, some filled in here and there and some have been utter shite.

If you looked up the definition of ‘meh’ in the dictionary, the seasons loans would be there.
