• We have today (22nd April) confirmed the closure of JackArmy.net on 31st May. Our reasons are varied but after a twenty-five year stint at the heart of the online Swansea City community, the time is right for us to bow out.

Background

In January 2024 Swansea City Supporters’ Trust were delighted to publish our full report on the Matchday Experience at Swansea City, which we kicked-off in October 2023. All our previous updates which included a link to the full survey report are available to access on our Trust website HERE

The project was established to better understand the experience of supporters in and around the stadium on matchdays and identify positive changes that could improve this. Almost 1000 supporters responded to our survey with the results providing a clear and strong case for changes to be made.

We promised to take the next steps with the support of the club to form a joint working group that will own these findings and others that are identified.

We are pleased to advise this group made up of a combination of Club, Trust and supporter representatives are now fully up and running and they held their tenth meeting at the Swansea Jack, Little Wind Street on Monday 16th February 2026.

This meeting gave everyone an opportunity to review progress to date and revisit some of the key recommendations arising from recent meetings and fan surveys.

The project is now known as the Matchday Experience Working Group – MEWG – and the full group is currently made up as follows:

Paul Meller (PM) – Swans Trust

Dave Dalton (DD) – Swans Trust

Chris Golledge (CG) – Swans Trust

Tony Sharpe (TS) – Swans Trust

Hayley Ford (HF) – Swansea City

Kev Johns (KJ) – Swansea City

Harriet Williams (HW) – Her Game Too

Sophie Hughes (SH) – Her Game Too

Lee Joseph (LJ)

Paul Joseph (PJ)

Ian Davies (ID)

Thomas Hughes (TH)

Craig Fulford-Astley (CFA)

Jamie Ranford (JR)

Andrew Concannon (AC)

Apologies were received for this meeting from:

Chris Golledge (CG) – Swans Trust

Tony Sharpe (TS) – Swans Trust

Kev Johns (KJ) – Swansea City

Thomas Hughes (TH)

Craig Fulford-Astley (CFA)

Andrew Concannon (AC)

Harriet Williams (HW) – Her Game Too

Sophie Hughes (SH) – Her Game Too

Another constructive meeting can be summarised as follows:

Meeting Notes:

Matters outstanding from last meeting

  • Marie Laure-Bowels gave apologies – will attend next meeting along with regional Compass representative. Catering to be discussed at next meeting
  • Potential for Fairwood training ground tours – HF to follow up in writing

Jamie, General Manager, Swansea Jack

  • Explained background since Nov opening– becoming a community hub. Family orientated – main clientele. Good atmosphere, very welcoming, promoted by family ‘influencers’. Looking to host as many events as possible working with club, Trust, charities, etc. Slow build up publicity wise. Safe place for players/former players. Looking to make certain TVs around the venue Swans specific.
  • Query raised whether pub would consider a pop-up pitch outside stadium on matchdays, plus physical marketing at targeted locations.
  • Explained away matchday travel arrangements and pricing. Home game shuttle buses – struggling to fill £5 each way. Times of matches also affecting numbers in the pub. No trouble on buses – chaperone from the pub on the bus. Away fans also welcome at the pub. Generally different demographic than Wind St. Can book meeting room.
  • Looking to work more closely with the club, flyers etc. Trust Kiosk suggested as an option. Offer of support each way. All encouraged to download the Swansea Jack app.

HF Update

  • Supporter surveys undertaken Sept & Dec. QR code to complete post-game. Good feedback from families, especially first-time visitors. Dec survey all match day experiences showed improvement or stayed steady.
  • Feedback:
    • Some surveys criticised lack of variety of half-time entertainment, but no suggestions as to what change to. HF asked for suggestions from the group.
    • Suggestions from supporters: half time entertainment in corner not great. Potentially could try stop the ball on centre spot. Focus on inexpensive fun/slapstick options.
    • Signal poor impacting fans ability to access online data. Not so many complaints once in the ground, as well known don’t get a signal in.
  • Season Tickets 26/27: with club board for consideration and due to be out next month. Includes Direct Debit option over 5-8 months. Prices likely to increase slightly as frozen last year.
  • Query raised re ranking for away ticket purchase.
  • Agreed transport to also be discussed at next meeting

Matchday issues raised

  • Raised that that some of the stewarding on matchdays could be inconsistent?
  • Suggestion that choir from Wrexham match be invited back.

Heritage update

  • Completion of current phase of cabinet equipment box painting
  • Showing of Ivor Allchurch Film in the Swansea Jack on 26th February
  • Stadium Walls of Fame – latest position
  • Legacy numbering project progressing

AOB

  • Her Game too – Sophie has a new job so cannot continue to support HGT (remove from MEWG WhatsApp group). HGT day will now change to Southampton game.
  • Junior take-over day will return before end of season – Middlesbrough game
  • Query raised over potential for highlights of Women’s game to be shown on big screen pre-match.
  • Request for images be made larger on the big screen? HF advised can’t do anything about sponsor bar being removed
  • FPA fund raising. The committee aim to organise 2 events per year plus the annual awards dinner which raises funds that the circa 130 former players on the database can apply for up to 2 grants per year to help through health, hardship or other unexpected situations. MEWG group welcome to explore potential for other events to go towards FPA fund raising
  • Suggestion that club could consider potential stand naming which sits alongside sponsorship names
  • Travel to stadium via river also discussed

Next Meeting

  • Recently confirmed for Thursday 21st May 2026 at 5pm at the Swansea.com Stadium with Club and Compass representatives.

If anyone would like to consider getting involved or submit any questions for the MEWG in advance of the next meeting please send us an email to supporters@swanstrust.co.uk

And don’t forget that that Trust are in regular contact with all departments within the Club as well as holding various meetings with senior managers where we routinely raise issues we receive or are aware of.

If anyone would like us to raise anything affecting them, please don’t hesitate to let us know by emailing us at supporters@swanstrust.co.uk

We will then discuss it with the Club as appropriate.

Another "constructive meeting". 😂

What has actually improved on match day to improve the experience?

Apparently it has been raised that some of the stewarding on match days could be inconsistent? So what is being done about this?

Stewards in the West Stand spend most of the game bullying and throwing out kids, and it has got worse as the season has progressed.

Another question. Why does the Mel Nurse bar close so after a match? They can't wait to get you out of there.

This lot has been going since January 2024 and have achieved absolutely sweet FA.

A complete and utter waste of space.
