Going away from the playing side.

They need to get their arses into gear in getting more people into the ground on matchday, get those corporate boxes filled again and get more sponsorship and re engage in the sponsors who walked away last summer as no approach was made by the club about getting back on board for this season.

They have to be more savvy in the merchandising at the club shop, retro tops need to be looked into given how successful the gulf top 30yr anniversary sales were.

They need to do much better on the non playing side aswell.
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it here previously or not, but 6 or 7 years ago (certainly post relegation) I reached out to the commercial folks at the club about the possibility of a sponsorship deal with my former employer. I quickly received a general email that outlined basic terms, etc. I responded that I was interested and wanted to move forward. I never heard another word from them again.

I say all this as to illustrate how poor things were then, and honestly I’d be surprised if they’ve remotely improved in this regard. If we can’t be arsed to take money when I try to give it to them, I can’t imagine that there’s much drive to go out looking for it. But maybe they’ve improved since then or perhaps mine was a one-off.

Can't really comment on the new guys but a couple of sponsors were never approached in the summer to get back on board this season despite several years of sponsorship previous. I don't know wether eyes were taken away from them because of the pending change of ownership or it was just down to just not being bothered.

They can't neglect this side of things and hopefully they can pick their game up going forward.

I get your point, but they knew the situation the club was in, they decided to buy the club based on the ongoing costs for running a club.

The old owners were doing that too. So what can these new owners actually offer the club to move it forward?

You've been a vocal supporter of them, but now this post sounds more like damage limitation?

I'm 100% confident they'll move us forward as a club yeah, starting this summer. But proof is always in the pudding so we shall see who is right, me and a few others or the majority who are "yanks out" and all that type of stuff.

Genuine question - what makes you 100% confident?

Even their most ardent supporter must admit it hasn't been the greatest start?

First of all though, what start did you expect off them?

Comms for me have been miles out and I'm hoping that will be on the agenda asap, but other than that, what could they have done in January window? They are clearing out dead wood and looking for a fresh canvas for next.

Considering the new owners only officially started in November, the January window was being run by Mr Coleman and considering we are close to the limit in regards to PSR there wasn’t a whole lot we could do, I’m fairly confident with Montague here and the restrictions starting over and a clearance of deadwood and wages saved in the summer, we will see a much more organised and structured summer window along with a lot of money being spent, a lot of money in terms of Swansea budgets not talking Leeds or your Sheffield spend but we’ll have a high amount spent imo.

Well you've answered a few of your own questions there and highlighted things that are of concern. They kept Coleman and Williams in post too long. They are still remaining silent unless there's a major event, there's little visibility of what their vision is. The appointments so far aren't particularly inspiring though and we can't get a manager. Sheehan until of season clearly wasn't the plan.

I do however give them credit for finally get rid of the likes of Coleman, as a shareholder himself it can't have been easy to get rid of him.

But what do you know that gives you 100% confidence that I do not?

The revelation that Coleman left everything until 2 days of the window remaining was unforgivable. For him and for him to be able to get away with that by the people he's accountable to. I know Coleman can be a charming bullshitter but those above him should have more control on him especially considering previous window's performances. So much for lessons being learnt.

Same was said when Watson arrived.

On top of that, transfer windows are hard, no, f***ing hard. I wouldn't be getting your hopes too high. If it were as easy as picking players we want and getting the mythical "20 goal striker" (copyright Daps) then others with more cash will still be in there before us. We have to take punts. Some will come off, some won't. Avoiding the horrendously expensive stupidity of Colemanballs (the likes of Pederson, Mik, and all the loans we never play) would be a start. Yates, for instance, was a fair punt that didn't work...who knows what he might have done in a side that actually tried to score goals. Frenchie might still come good too, who knows.

It's as much about what we don't spend as much as what we spend.

Spot on.

The new owners had to go into the January window with both arms and one leg tied behind their backs because of how close to the wire we were with FFP. Sure Coleman's performance in the window wasn't stellar but money talks and the reality is that even if the owners had cash to put in we couldn't spend it.

What we did have we invested with a view to next season and I am looking forward to seeing what Widell will offer us.

all of those things you mention happened way before these guys took over so what do you mean? How long did Coleman last under them?

They started in November and already brought in a Swedish international, Lewis O’Brien in on loan to keep us out of trouble, a sporting director and CEO with plenty more to come

I don't know what you mean? Williams and Coleman were in post well after November. They haven't been publicly communicating much since November. The coaches and staff they've appointed has been since November too.

Credit for O Brien, although that has to be a one off signing. Jury's out on Widell but looks promising.

He means the new owners came in in November
In essence Williams and Coleman only lasted 3 months or so after they arrived before they were sent packing
