Ben Davies was being earmarked in pre season prior to Taylor getting injured, he was seen as someone who was ready to be back up to Taylor for the season. He was going to make it with or without Taylor getting injured.....the academy coaches and senior coaches were already aware of his potential.Missing the point. Nobody would have claimed that he could have stepped in and done as well as he did.
One of the major reasons why so few have stepped up from the reserves is our reluctance in giving them serious opportunities to do so. Prospects are stuck playing u21 football until they're 21/22. That's far too late.
Realistically players should be out on loan at 17/18, or in our matchday squads if they're deemed to have enough potential. We drag things out too much.
I agree with you regards the age thing, clubs seem reluctant to give players their chances until their in their early 20s unless a player is exceptional.
I fully understand your point, I am just highlighting that there is no one in the youth set up good enough for this coming season to be Tymons back up. If we had a Sam Parker capable of playing LB then we would have our solution but sadly we don't.
All for suggesting a youth player as long as a name can be suggested that is justifiable for the spot. I don't fall for the saying let's just throw someone in and see how it goes.....you never know! In relation to Ben Davies, people who knew, those people had confidence in him.
