Summer Transfer Window

Missing the point. Nobody would have claimed that he could have stepped in and done as well as he did.

One of the major reasons why so few have stepped up from the reserves is our reluctance in giving them serious opportunities to do so. Prospects are stuck playing u21 football until they're 21/22. That's far too late.

Realistically players should be out on loan at 17/18, or in our matchday squads if they're deemed to have enough potential. We drag things out too much.
Ben Davies was being earmarked in pre season prior to Taylor getting injured, he was seen as someone who was ready to be back up to Taylor for the season. He was going to make it with or without Taylor getting injured.....the academy coaches and senior coaches were already aware of his potential.
I agree with you regards the age thing, clubs seem reluctant to give players their chances until their in their early 20s unless a player is exceptional.

I fully understand your point, I am just highlighting that there is no one in the youth set up good enough for this coming season to be Tymons back up. If we had a Sam Parker capable of playing LB then we would have our solution but sadly we don't.

All for suggesting a youth player as long as a name can be suggested that is justifiable for the spot. I don't fall for the saying let's just throw someone in and see how it goes.....you never know! In relation to Ben Davies, people who knew, those people had confidence in him.

Harry Toffolo or Jamal Lewis on a free for LB cover.
Too expensive. British players who have both been on premier league wages for the last few seasons.
Both will have clubs willing to pay good money in wages, we won't be paying those type of wages for a player to come in as back up.

Nothing like a reality check either.. as we saw last season initially with Franco and Eom.
I don't necessarily disagree with you, but, myself included, we've been guilty of condemning the hierarchy for not delivering on promises. But I have to say that they've far exceeded MY expectations. I fully realise that some bedding in will be required, and I hope the supporters allow for that, but I'm sure we'll come good soon enough.

For now there are tons of questions regarding our intended shape and formation
Realistically it probably won't be until towards the end of pre season and the final two friendlies or so that we start to see our intended starting lineup in mind for Boro

Paal is another option plenty of experience with QPR at this level, I’m sure we was linked with him before he went there.

That’s going to be a tough position to fill for us, markets pretty sparse. You could gamble on someone like Brandon Williams, or a more experienced player like Joel Ward, Aaron Creswell and Ashley Young
Can Key play there? If so Galbraith can drop in to RB if Tymon is injured.

Personally I wouldn't want to rely on Key as Tymon's

back up, his defending is atrocious. Yes he was better when Williams left and stopped the stupid inverting, but he was still way below the level required for a top half Championship team (assuming that's our ambition).

If Galbraith is half decent at RB he will supplant Key.
