Ah yeah I forgot about the car accident. Problem is if he doesn't make it this season then he's 23 next season and not playing first team football by that stage will be detrimental to his development

Yes, I was disappointed he only managed 3 goals in 15 games for Port Vale (although quite a few of those appearances were as a sub). Surprising to see Thomas will be 22 next month, he really needs to be breaking into the first team squad this season otherwise it's probably not going to work out...

If that's the case then surely it's a coaching issue? The reserve team should be coached and play the same style of football (lol) as the first team, meaning the step up is as smooth as possible. Otherwise we're developing young players for other clubs instead of blooding our own youngsters

Has scored a 14 minute hat trick for the U21s this afternoon, making it 8 goals in his last 5 games at that level. He'll be 20 in November, I'd like to see him get a decent loan or given a chance in the first team to see what he can do. Both him and Josh Thomas are natural goal scorers at...

    Ryan Lowe leaves Preston ...

Madness, so they were happy for him to stay over the summer and prepare the squad for the season, then they let him go after losing their first game to one of the promotion favourites 😕

Swans set to seal deal for Liverpool starlet

He made Ryan Bennett look like Usain Bolt

It's the same mentality as a lot of our fans, far too much focus is put on the Cardiff games. It's a small time mentality that as long as we beat and finish above Cardiff then that's acceptable. Look at the reaction to Duff's comments last season, he said he wouldn't mind losing both games to...

So many games just drift away, especially the first half, because we just keep possession without doing anything with it. Then there's invariably a 10 minute period in the second half where we remember we actually need to try to score, before we slip back into aimless passing. Rinse and repeat

I've had a season ticket for the last 3 seasons (starting with Martin's first season) and every single game has been the same, the defenders and Grimes finish the game with well over 100 touches and whoever is playing up front will be lucky to have more than 20. The strikers usually have far...

At least he must feel like he's still playing for us, see Vipotnik's one and only touch in his 26 minutes on the pitch yesterday

    😂 fair enough

    Optimistic?

I know it may be recency bias and wanting to see things for the best but was it really a huge improvement in performance compared to last season up there? Swansea xG: 0.47, down from 0.70 last season Boro xG: 2.86, up from 1.17 last season Swansea "big chances": 0, down from 1 last season Boro...

Agreed, it would be interesting to see Franco and Fulton together

Swans set to seal deal for Liverpool starlet

He made the bench a handful of times (mostly in the cups) but yes, if they've given him a new contract recently then they must think he's got something about him so it'll be interesting to see (if he does arrive)

Swans set to seal deal for Liverpool starlet

Not sure why you think that, his only appearances for the first team so far are 75 minutes in a Europa League game in December, came on in the 93rd minute against Bournemouth in January and came on in the 90th minute against Southampton in February

He can't help himself though, it's his way of "hiding" where he gives himself 20 yards of space so he can decide who to play a 5 yard pass to. His only other trick is running towards a team mate who has the ball, getting the pass from them and immediately playing it back first time

Cooper would be eaten alive in midfield, especially with Grimes dropping deep and leaving him isolated. He's far too lightweight and spends more time on the ground than on his feet, not good enough for the Championship

We do seem to have settled a bit and aren't panicking so much in possession. Boro have taken their foot off the gas a bit as well though

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Middlesbrough FC vs Swansea City | The EFL Championship

I disagree, it just means he's standing next to our two CBs and we're then outnumbered in midfield (as Grimes only leaves 7 players ahead of him against 10 opposition players) and end up losing possession

Coventry City v Swansea City
