Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City vs Norwich City | The EFL Championship

I'm not sure if we have another player with his great attacking instincts

    Grimes

Because 2 of those 4 are the wingers. There are 2 players in CM playing against the opposition's 3 if they're playing a 4-3-3 or a 4-5-1

Does Liam Cullen deserve a new contract?

I can sort of see it as a show of appreciation for them playing for us. Equally when they're booed though, if they haven't kicked up a stink and just left when their contract expired then I don't see the point of that

Does Liam Cullen deserve a new contract?

Nice word! Definitely, I completely understand players looking out for themselves though and trying to get the best deal they can

    Grimes

    Agreed, that's exactly what I've said :D

Does Liam Cullen deserve a new contract?

Obviously there are exceptions, sometimes players will feel they "fit" at a club/in a city and have no interest in leaving. Look at Routledge, 8 clubs in 10 years before us then 10 seasons at Swansea

    Grimes

Yep, as must all our attacking players who only get to touch the ball a few times every game

Does Liam Cullen deserve a new contract?

Football is weird though where groups of people have loyalty to a particular organisation. For the players, why shouldn't they go to the organisation that will pay them the best wages? In most cases, they don't have any attachment to the club they play for but us fans sometimes struggle to...

Yes but it's just semantics about the shape the players are in on the team sheet. There's no difference between starting in a 4-4-2 and having a striker drop back (making it a 4-5-1) and starting in a 4-5-1 and having a midfielder push forward to join the striker (making it a 4-4-2). That "if"...

Does Liam Cullen deserve a new contract?

I don't have any problem with Manning, he honoured the contract he signed when he joined and didn't cause any drama (like Paterson for example). His contract expired and he moved on, probably getting a decent signing on fee from Southampton

The problem with 4-4-2 is that a lot of teams at the moment either play 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 so your 2 in midfield would always be outnumbered. Of course, with proper coaching this could be avoided (getting your spare CB to step up into midfield or one of your strikers to drop back) but then you're...

If we don't have another player who could pass to a teammate who's 20 yards away using their favoured foot whilst unmarked and under no pressure then that's quite damning on the rest of the squad :ROFLMAO:

The most infuriating thing for me is on the odd occasion when he's actually in midfield, he'll sprint towards whichever defender has the ball, they'll pass it to him and without even taking a look over his shoulder to see if he can turn, he'll pass it straight back to them first time. No doubt...

They do have a nice huddle on the pitch before each game though, literally a few minutes after they've all been in the changing room together. I'd love to know what they say in those huddles: Grimes: "So remember the tactics lads, pass the ball to me" "Ok Matt, how do we know where you'll be?"...

    Summer 2024 Transfer Rumours

I suspect it's due to his off-field issues

    Summer 2024 Transfer Rumours

Williams was on big wages at United (rumoured to be £50-60k a week) and was in rehab earlier this year for an addiction to laughing gas

He should have been passing it to the other CB like ours would have done in that situation

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | WBA v Swansea City | The EFL Championship

It looked to me that the keeper won the ball, judging by the direction it travelled after the challenge

I did find it funny when he dived for the goal, only after the ball had actually hit the net

I always make a point of watching him whenever we concede. He never berates his teammates or tries to organise them or gee them up/encourage them, he just calmly jogs back ready for the kickoff. He has no qualities that warrant him being captain of this team, he's certainly not a leader
