Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City vs Cardiff City | The EFL Championship

Gillingham scored against us. I think we'll win either 2:1 or 3:1, reckon it'll be closer than some expect

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City vs Preston North End | The EFL Championship

Fair enough but I'll look forward to the outcry on here of cheating refs when we don't get a penalty for a similar incident

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City vs Preston North End | The EFL Championship

The second half performance yesterday was much better than the first (although the first half was mind numbing once again) but we had some decisions go our way, namely the ball looking like it may have been out of play when Eom crossed for the penalty and the officials somehow missing Darling's...

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City vs Preston North End | The EFL Championship

Agree with this. I reckon a 12th-16th place finish is probably realistic for this season. The first team still has a few positions that need to be improved on and there is very little squad depth to speak of, it's a very long season and we're going to pick up injuries so I expect a few...

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City vs Preston North End | The EFL Championship

A team who only lost 2 of 7 games under Sheehan after Duff left

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City vs Preston North End | The EFL Championship

Played 24, lost 11? Losing half of your games isn't great to be fair

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City vs Preston North End | The EFL Championship

What about losing football games the boring way, since we've lost 20 of our last 47 league games and only won 15?

SE Corner / South / SW Corner

It is true, I sit in the South stand and there have been masses of empty seats for the last couple of seasons. I don't know how many season tickets the club have sold this year but I doubt it's more than last. Lots of people with season tickets only showed up for a handful of games last season...

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City vs Preston North End | The EFL Championship

Roll on the day when they've both left and we can hopefully have a decent midfield at long last!

Shame we'll never get the chance to see if Fulton can be more effective without Grimes alongside him

Swansea City v Gillingham | Extended Highlights

Surprised they didn't show Vipotnik's miss on the extended highlights

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City vs Gillingham FC | The Carabao Cup

We really need to do something about that magnet that constantly draws the ball back to the halfway line when we find ourselves in attacking positions. Also, why does every corner get played short and end up back on the halfway line? In open play, we start in the centre circle and eventually...

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City vs Gillingham FC | The Carabao Cup

I agree but they weren't the right fit for what we needed at the time. Just found out Oko-Flex is playing in Switzerland now

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City vs Gillingham FC | The Carabao Cup

I get the impression the loans have been looked at with the attitude of "well it's better than nothing" and there's the gamble that they might turn out decent. We've had a lot more misses than hits over the last few years though

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City vs Gillingham FC | The Carabao Cup

For a club who are always pleading poverty, we wasted about £4.5m on Yates, Kukharevych and Tjoe-A-On last summer. We've had some dreadful loans over the last few years as well; Humphreys, Sagoe Jr, Stevens, Sorinola, Oko-Flex, Rhys Williams and Fin Burns all spring to mind

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City vs Gillingham FC | The Carabao Cup

We also seem to have signed a few players who have then left 6/12 months later without having played. Kukharevych being the latest but there's also Ogbeta, Pedersen, Tjoe-A-On still hasn't made his competitive debut, I'm probably forgetting some as well

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City vs Gillingham FC | The Carabao Cup

To be fair, it's hardly a controversial point that the owners aren't investing enough to take the club forwards

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City vs Gillingham FC | The Carabao Cup

That's what I meant sorry, they've invested the bare minimum required. Whether that's through choice or limitations of available funds I don't know but I just don't see what's in it for them at the moment to just keep throwing their money away for the club to go backwards

Season 24/25 | The Official Match Thread | Swansea City vs Gillingham FC | The Carabao Cup

We hope it's been positive but we won't know for sure until we see how the new signings perform over the next few months. It's very much unknown at the moment. We're massively down on numbers from last season so the squad depth is definitely going to be an issue over the course of the season
