    Vipotnik - Top Scorer (Championship)

Always thought Piroe contributed more when he played as a second striker. When we asked him to lead the line he often looked lost for long periods of the game, but his natural ability still saw him amongst the goals by conjuring something out of very little. Vipi doesn't have the type of game...

What are our realistic ambitions ?

I'd absolutely accept the possibility of a season's worth of losses in order to get hold of the Prem money again but properly plan for the possibility of relegation this time.

    Vipotnik - Top Scorer (Championship)

He seems to be fitting the style well enough so far. Averaging better than a goal every other game under Matos, and if we're looking at wingers then his linkup play is improving too. Piroe is a quality player but I agree. Not sure he'd suit the way we play for example.

    Vipotnik - Top Scorer (Championship)

Rodon was fairly valued at the time considering he'd never played above the Championship.

Confidence is also key. If you're in and out of the side and living off scraps then chances are going to be snatched at, or you'll take that extra touch in an attempt to be sure and end up being closed down. He's clearly in a good space at the minute because he's burying most stuff. I think he...

He's someone coaches know that they can depend on. Whether that's doing the physical battling that Sheehan used him for, to meld with Grimes as some sort of hive mind as others did, or as Matos is demonstrating, he can push forward a bit too. Just a good pro. Not a whiff of scandal off the...

    Vipotnik - Top Scorer (Championship)

Whilst I always thought he was harshly rated last season and that he'd be capable of more if used properly, he's exceeded even my expectations. Double last season's goal tally already and it's barely past mid-January. Last night was almost the complete #9 performance. It's just a shame we...

Based on previous form I hope it gets extended. I am thoroughly enjoying the pretense from some quarters that he's played 300+ games for us, almost all in the top two divisions of English football, apparently by accident. He's a good player. Every manager he's had here understood that. Even...

More than decent player. Always has been. Better opportunity to show it now he's not tied to Grimes.

    Myles Peart-Harris

A midfielder stuck out on the wing for us. Always looked better on the rare occasions he was pushed inside. Should be decent enough at this level, although probably no World beater.

What are we really expecting from Matos....

Yep. His autobiography does him few favours. The kind of guy who can see an insult in anything.

What are we really expecting from Matos....

But you're not looking for negatives at all are you? You're doing your level best to downplay the improvement in results and performances over the last six weeks or so. Why not just say that we're doing well and you hope it continues?

Matos Praises Swansea City’s Second‑Half Response Despite Late Millwall Blow at The Den

Indeed. It's been apparent in other games too. Wrexham for example is certainly a match we'd have gone on to lose under previous incumbents.

What are we really expecting from Matos....

Yes, and as I've previously mentioned, I also included the games against WBA and Derby, marches where Matos cannot reasonably have been expected to have any kind of impact at all. But I get it. Some people like looking for negatives.

What are we really expecting from Matos....

I've included the Derby and WBA games in my figures. If you consider how little chance he'd have had to influence those results in the time he had what he's done so far looks even better.

What are we really expecting from Matos....

Yep. Part of what worked for us the first time around was the continuity. From Flynn right through to Rodgers there was a certain idea of how we wanted to go about things and whilst players came and went, three of our starting lineup at Wembley in the Playoff final had been here since League...

What are we really expecting from Matos....

Over the festive period we've picked up nine points from five games. Extrapolated over the season that would give us a final points total somewhere in the low 80's. Over Matos' reign entirely it's fifteen points from nine games, which puts us in the mid 70's. Both would see us squarely in the...

    S25/26 | The Official Match Thread | Millwall 2 Swansea 1 | Att: 14,242 | 04/01/26 | The EFL Championship | The Den

Five games played between 19th Dec and 4th Jan. Three wins. Nine points from Fifteen. Only defeats coming against the team top of the table and the one currently in fifth. Overall I'll take that.

Every player has bad games. Problems arise when people start pretending that some players have more than others, or doing their best to deny when a player has played well. Fulton has been subject to far more than his fair share of both IMO. None of this is to say that he's a brilliant player...
