There are huge safeguarding benefits to come from this. Try and see beyond the ‘big brother’ outlook.

Is that any different to those who put their bank details into their phones so they can use their phones to pay for goods at the till?
From what I have read, this update becomes slightly problematic if, you do not use your phone to pay for goods, and also do not have a driving licence! Then until ID is updated, you are locked out, till they are uploaded.

This is taking the pee, surely the individual website where one requires access should be responsible for age verification, not Apple 🤔

I think all it’s doing is enforcing web content filters to be turned on. Your account won’t be locked.

It all depends. Unless uploading your age verification to Apple is then universally accepted by other Websites Or Apps as legitimate proof of being over 18, then what is the actual point of it?

If other websites still require Age Verification then what would be the point of giving your bank details or driving license details to Apple? When you don’t need to be 18 plus to use an Apple Phone.

Yes, that what I had read. I would think that would block me from online bookmakers, so that’s why I disabled it.

Has this been enforced by the UK online safety act rather than it being an Apple initiative

These websites which you refer to don’t always apply the right level of verification, or are easy to bypass. Having an operating system check creates a stronger enforcement that gets carried over to apps, regardless of whether they have verification in place or not.
