Not that the Boro keeper needed to, we could have still been playing now and wouldn't have had a shot on goal... but what is the point of adding the rule if the refs aren't going to enforce it?
I watched three games today, several had cases where the keeper was still holding onto the ball after twelve seconds or so but not once did the ref blow up to give a corner as the rules said to. The Boro keeper did it twice in the space of a minute, catching a high ball under no challenge and falling onto the ball before taking his sweet time to get up, bounce it a couple of times and then kick it out.
