One of our own calling Swansea a dump. Fair enough.

If you are referring to me then I stand by that comment, what’s the saying…” truth always hurts”.
The city centre is a collage of boarded up shops, the anchor store in the quadrant has been empty for several years, there’s scaffolding and cling film covering the building adjacent to the Taco bridge , I could go on and on.
Student accommodation seems to be the priority of every new development in an attempt to increase footfall, aren’t students supposed to be on their arse financially??

The Arena and SA1 are probably the only redeeming features of the city the rest is like an ill fitting jigsaw puzzle.

There are still empty former Debenhams stores across the UK. That particular collapse had a big effect in many cities. It's a huge unit and difficult to let, thankfully Swansea Council have seemingly now found tenants that should open next year.

The problems with the construction of the retail units and multi-storey by the bridge have been disappointing, no argument there.

There really weren't many boarded up units in the city centre last time I was there, is it possible you're exaggerating?

The city centre has been designed around primarily retail for the last 100 years or so. It's not as if you can click your fingers and change that instantly. Wind Street has been made a far more attractive destination in recent years after being pedestrianised, Castle Square is getting a significant upgrade, the indoor market is regularly recognised as one of the best in the country, etc.

It's not perfect, but nothing like as bad as you're making out. So not so much the 'truth always hurts', more a pessimists view of the situation.

The internal / soft strip demolition should get started in the next month, then it’ll depend on how quick they agree on the new layout design, and then planning. How the latter two go will depend on whether it opens next year or not. It should do, but…

Then you’ve got the new block B to be built after the St David’s car park gets demolished. It’ll look a lot different down there in the next two years.

and don't forget, our Town was decimated by war bombs. It would look very different if it didn't happen. We had grand plans that were scuppered by London and we awful 60's planning which is now itself getting decimated. If the assembly had been housed in Swansea then all that money wouldn't have been diverted in to Cardiff.

It’s like a lot of towns throughout the UK. There’s been a huge shift to online shopping and town centre's are going through an identity crisis. Not an overnight fix and I’m not sure anyone really knows the answer to what town centre's will be like in the future.

Swanseas should be easy, just build on what they already have, the arena, LC2, the bay and Wind st. Just model it as an entertainment and food city. If they could wangle a tram to get down to Mumbles it would be perfect.
