This is horrible.
Probably why you were held up on the way to the game!

Only days before I got on at Jcn 28 and before 29 a van maneuvered between two cars when there wasn't a gap. Not sure how there wasn't an accident then.

I don't think the 50mph stretch from 24 to 28 helps at all, people go mental as soon as they see that national sign. I refuse to drive that section now, stupid welsh gov.

Awful tragedy, beyond comprehension to imagine the hurt family and friends feel.

They will never get over it Dicky. Not ever.

Heartbreaking.

Are you trying to criticise Karnataka? Or does your exclamation mark mean that you're making some kind of joke? I genuine don't understand this.

It was just a typo. I don’t joke about things like this, and I read a post by him on Saturday saying he was stuck in a traffic jam on the M4 and may not get to the game in time.
Apologies for my typo.

Edit. I see you’ve edited your original question to me.

Wow, that is truly heartbreaking. I've been keeping an eye out for updates off and on since Saturday hoping against hope that the 4 people airlifted to hospital had survived. I wasn't aware until just now that 2 of them were kiddies aged 4 and 3, the latter still in a critical condition. The longer I was sat in that stationary queue watching helicopters coming and going, the more serious I felt it was going to be and the less and less bothered I became about getting to a football match when it was looking like loss of life was increasingly likely. I feel very sad for the little girl's family. Seeing my car sitting in that queue in the picture in the 2nd of those 2 articles somehow makes it feel a bit more personal when really, it isn't. Is that strange? I suppose it's just that feeling of being so close to such tragedy. It's so much worse when it's children.

Yes, I’ve been sitting in jams like that for hours and after thinking to myself how annoying it is I start to wonder what has happened to the people involved. This particular incident is harrowing, mainly because of the children, and it appears that someone was driving recklessly. The stretch of M4 around Newport is well known for the accidents that happen there and people still drive like idiots.
This must be a regular journey for you, back and fore to matches, so I suppose you are used to the behaviour of some of the drivers but it doesn’t make it feel any better. Hopefully your remaining journeys are all event free and safe.

There's always congestion between Celtic Manor and the Bryn Glas tunnels plus the occasional crawl past a minor shunt or broken down vehicle but nothing like Saturday thankfully despite having made the journey hundreds of times over the years. Anyway, thanks for the update and yes, event free and safe, every time🤞.

Yes, on reading it I realised that I was being judgmental and probably jumping to conclusions so I cut it down. Thanks for clearing that up, I'm just so glad that a life-changing tragedy like that never happened to me or my family. I think that I'll have to make some family phone calls tomorrow.

It is always too easy when stuck in traffic like that to worry about being late, missing meetings/engagements or just being late home from tea.

I remember many years back an accident less than a mile from my house that made it impossible all but to get home one night. Two weeks later I was in a work meeting at a guys office and he had a photo on the wall behind him of him and two mates on a golfing trip. I made a comment about what a great place he looked and I could see him filling up - it was his mate who had passed away in the accident that frustrated me two weeks before. From then on, the phrase better late than never strikes me more than it ever did

Tragic story for that family, cannot begin to imagine the pain they are going through.

Road accidents and cancer, it seems that these days not many people can go through life without being touched to some degree by one or the other every so often.

So, so sad. I can’t imagine losing two children in a car crash. So young too. RIP
