• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

What one did you purchase Dar?

Frozen chips? Or did you cut up some spuds?

Sorry - didn’t see you’d asked the same question before I asked it.
We posted at the same time 😃
I've been thinking about one for yonks. Aldi had one on offer last week.

I started with chips as we wanted to reduce the fat content. Have also cooked Salmon in mine, took around 7 mins depending on how well done you like it.

I also make up different spice mixes to rub on the food which adds to the flavour.

When you say chips do you mean a bag of frozen oven chips or cutting a potato up? If the latter, do you have to coat the potatoes in oil?

We cut potatoes earlier poured over a little garlic oil and sprinkled with a bit of paprika.
They were outstanding.

Anyone got one?
Bought one on Amazon yesterday, had it delivered earlier and just made chips for tea.

I can’t lie the finest chips I’ve ever tasted.

Really, I’ve been thinking of getting one. Did you have to put much oil in or boil the potatoes first?

Hi Lisa, Real potatoes, sliced, rinsed, dried then a Tbsp of oil to coat & in my fryer I cook them at 180c for anywhere between 24 - 32 mins, depending on amount & type of potato. It is important to shake them around every so often to get even coverage.

Edited to add that you can also do frozen chips in it as well.

They sound good. Although most gadgets in my house end up being used a few times and then never again. My bread maker being a particular example. I roast vegetables quite a bit, cauliflower, broccoli, peppers, cabbage etc. Flavour is brilliant. So would be good for that.

Yes, absolutely great for veggies. You just have to watch them more as they cook quicker than a normal oven. As I said earlier I cooked peppers stuffed with mexican spicy rice last night which took 8 mins, then I put some grated cheese on top for 1-2 mins. Delicious with the chicken thighs.

No to both.

The oil is primarily to help them brown but also stops them burning before being cooked through

Sweet potatoes done with paprika and cayenne in a little oil in the oven are fantastic. They’d work well in your air fryer I would think.

Got one for Christmas, it does pressure cooking as well but haven’t used it for that much. Really impressed with how it cooks chips, normal and sweet potato variety.

They're the new George Foreman grill, with people raving about them. In 5 years nobody will even remember they existed.

Hmmm, been using mine since 2015. I should have grown out of it by now then

We use ours regularly. They make banging chips and are absolutely the best way I’ve found of cooking sausages.
