For anyone watching this.
What a legend this guy is. Double hip replacement, shouldn't be jogging around let alone battling at 2.30 am ( down under), for me ( next to beefy) the greatest British sportsman ever.

Incredible bloke. I never liked him for some reason, just didn't take to him on a tennis court, but he is a nicer person than I thought and beyond determined. I'm not going to say brave - it's just tennis after all, but determined. I still don't take to him (still don't know why) but I respect the bugger enormously.

He has always appeared a little too dour for my liking, but then again I have never met him in the flesh.

How we rate him in terms of 'Britiain's greatest' all comes down to how we measure success. In terms of pure wins at the top of his sport then he is not the greatest. However, if you consider his endeavour which captures his opponents field and his injury limitations, then this places him very high up the list.

Britain's greatest? Not for me.

Thing is Coops, how unlucky he's been to be around at same time as Federer/Nadal/Djokovic.
Always thought he was a good guy tbh.
Has a heart of caged lion fair doos.

Yes, that's what I mean by endeavour. He managed to accumulate a few slams when the vast majority were being picked up by the big three you mention.

He has bucket loads of guts, determination, endeavour, spirit and so on. However I don't think he has the trophies to single him out as the greatest.

I thought he'd collapse 4th set after that effort. If he was to actually win this, it would be jaw dropping.

Big turning point was the Aussie having a meltdown when 2 sets up/2 games all.
Its turned into an epic.

Britain’s greatest without any doubt in my view. Any sport. Any era.

On a related note, ridiculous that this game will finish about 4am local time. They should have been told to come back tomorrow at least a set ago.

Only thing close I can equate that to is Tyson Fury getting off the floor to beat Wilder.
That was beyond heroic.

No, no they shouldn't.

Pfft plastic. He should support St Johnstone.

I know, you can't call anyone going to Easter Road a plastic. Hardcore. Not as nasty as Gorgie though...what a fuck hole.

That's incredible, 35 year old, with another slam under his belt, outstanding. 👏👏
