Bloody hell

Local authorities have obligations under section 6 of the Human Rights Act and Article 8 ECHR to provide adequate sites for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people.
Neither of which are anything to do with the EU and neither of which specify where sites should be. Stop making stuff up. It doesn’t wash here.

The European Union's (EU) Treaty of Lisbon, in force since 1 December 2009, requires the EU to accede to the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).
And the U.K. signed up to the ECHR in 1951 and was one of the states involved in actually drafting it. The Human Rights Act was passed by the U.K. Parliament in 1998. Both of these things, you may notice, far predate the Lisbon Treaty, in one case by MORE THAN HALF A CENTURY.

Clueless.

Local authorities have obligations under section 6 of the Human Rights Act and Article 8 ECHR to provide adequate sites for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people.
And neither s6 HRA nor article 8 ECHR mention anything about gypsies, Roma or travellers and even less about local authorities providing sites for them.

*Additional information*

A member of the general public raised a very relevant point at the packed public meeting by asking why traveller sites were being proposed to be situated slap bang in the midst of a community. Why not back of beyond so not to affect house prices etc?

The excellent lady on the stage who had in-depth inside knowledge from belonging to Swansea City Council planning dept, answered by saying that EU standards were that traveller sites had to be situated to provide easy access to local services. Along with also having to provide heated washing, sanitation and toilet facilities. It was not just a case of the council providing land!

And when asked where the money was going to come from, the speculation from the stage at the packed public meeting was that the EU would probably provide the money for Swansea City Council via one of those EU social funds or grant thingy's.

They're not all hooligans, I once dropped a 5 pound note and a gypsy women politely said to me, you just dropped a 5 pound note and handed it to me
There’s some very nice members of the travelling community where I live. I’ve had plenty of interaction with them over the years. They are frequent donators to the local community as well.

Obviously there are bad ones, but that goes for people from all walks of life too.

“The excellent lady on the stage who had in-depth inside knowledge from belonging to Swansea City Council planning dep”.

Excellent, she’s an expert on artists impressions then 🤣🤣

Bang on! Indeed a person with knowledge regarding LDP matters who also attended another meeeting on a second occasion. albeit not at a large scale public gathering of hundreds with standing room only, but in civic center surroundings where representatives of both the travelling community and local residents gave their opinions.
And proposed sites look to have been scrapped with a plan to expand the 'official site' in SA7 postcode area.

A certain "Bernard McDonagh" along with a female member of the Joyce traveller family were both interviewed seperately by BBC Wales around 2013. Not on internet to my knowledge.
Both belonged to the traveller families that were subject matter regarding the consultation process involving Swansea City Council and residents opposed to traveller site.

So absolutely no evidence they are or were travellers then? Gotcha.

Yeah you've really got me cornered and under heavy artillery fire! Gotcha hey?

Well apart from the Judge Paul Thomas's sentencing comments who said that the couples criminal behaviour "would reinforce negative stereotypes” about the traveller community. Sorry I cannot post the Crown Court transcripts, breech of data protection and all that? LOL!!!!
