Brewster

I don't think he is the real deal regarding top 4/6 level. I just think he is lacks that lightening pace for a guy his size at PL level and his all round game needs improving.

Footballs all about opinions I think the lads the teal deal.

Far more impressed with him than I was of Tammy

Same, don’t think he’s anywhere near ready.

I think he’ll end up somewhere like Fulham or Leeds but will find himself out of the side after a month or so. Cracking finisher but won’t get the chances in a struggling premier league side and all round game not quite up to it at this early stage of his career.

Nothing but best wishes from me though, hope he proves me wrong. Loved him here.

Banford or Brewster?

I know who’d I’d pick all day long.

Brewster’s going to be a top player

Yeah I think Brewster is going to be class, his finishing is up there with the best right now. Me and doc were debating about this the other week though, strikers are more than just putting the ball in the net now, his link up play etc needs lots of work and klopp hinted at that after his two goals the other day.

I genuinely believe there’s substance in the rumour Gary heard about Klopp not wanting to send him out to premier league club just yet, he definitely won’t entertain selling him. I reckon he’s going to end up back with us, got a funny feeling...

If he does I’m lumping on us winning league.

If he signs I’d certainly agree we will be contenders if he signs for another season

Hope I’m wrong in seeing him joining a Leeds/Palace/Fulham type club.

Not even a remote chance Brewster is coming back here lets gets real !

He has done his Championship stint now its going to be be in the Liverpool match day squad if 5 subs carries on , he may be sent out to Germany on loan or possibly a prem side like Leeds or Leicester.

5 subs isn't carrying on

Perhaps Klopp will look at how young players have performed on loan at top half Championship clubs against lower league PL clubs. See Abraham for example. What seasons do you think helped his progression the most, banging them in at Bristol City and Aston Villa, or struggling here in a poor team?

At the time I would have expected Abraham to do far better than he did for us.

At 20 years of age on 50k plus contracts I’d be expecting a striker capable of scoring 10 plus goals in the PL.

I guess it’s what you see as more important as an improvement 12 Pl goals or 20 plus Championship goals.

I'm sure both Chelsea and Swansea expected Abraham to do far better than scoring 5 PL goals for us. But it shows that putting a young striker in a struggling PL team can be detrimental to his progress. I can't imagine he learned much in that season considering the way we played. If he was honest about it, I think he'd admit that season set him back and he'd rather have gone back to the Championship.

If Brewster went somewhere in the PL and scored 12 goals, I'd imagine both he and Liverpool would be delighted. But what are the chances of that? You have to go as high as Burnley in 12th for a player to have scored 12 goals or more last season. Below them, only 3 teams had a player hit double figures (Pukki with 11, Deeney with 10, Maupay with 10).

I'm not saying he's coming back here, but I think there's more chance of it happening than some are making out.

(Edit: Sorry I just noticed that I was looking at a table of PL goals by team rather than the actual table. Apologies. So it's actually still 12th place for a team to have a player that scored 12 or more, but it's Everton rather than Burnley. Plus you can add Antonio to the list of players with double figures as he scored 10 also.)

Well he still isn't coming back to us.

He already has banged them in with us in the Championship so coming back to us will challenge his development?

To me it's pretty obvious that a second season banging them in for a Championship club would do far more for a young striker's development than struggling in a relegation battling PL team. Not to mention he only has a half-season of Championship experience.

Tammy spent a season banging them in for Bristol City. Chelsea didn't consider him ready for their first team, so he came to us. He struggled and they still didn't consider him ready. Another season banging them in for Villa and they judged him good enough for them. Perhaps he would have had his chance a year earlier if he'd gone back to the Championship instead of coming to us?

That's my take on it, you're obviously welcome to disagree.

Not sure why the continued comparison with Tammy is. Brewster is further down the road nearer Liverpool's first team squad that Tammy was with Chelsea. Are you suggesting a couple more seasons like Tammy Brewster needs in the Championship?
