Colours Nailed and all that

Is it just me, or is this thread now going around in circles.

Bottom line is we will likely finish mid table. That's it. Then Summer review. Hopefully some quality in - defence, midfield, attack 😊. Plus some obvious suspects out. Though possibly a profit on some we may not really want to lose 🤔

Vitor hopefully gets some choice in all of this - and also then has the opportunity for a decent pre-season.

And away we go, hopefully for a decent shot at the playoffs - under Vitor's direction !
Think you hit the nail on the head when you say quality in defence, midfield and attack.
Lots of questions going to be asked regards players like Key,Burgess, Inoussa,Ronald and Eom.
Questions regards our midfielders and do we need more creative quality centrally......we all know we need more out wide.

The Galbraith scenario has been highlighted greatly and discussed often. I think if we got a good fee for him then it would be a good thing overall for us.

I believe we will be in a decent place squad wise come the summer but nagging questions have raised a bit more as spring comes and next year's expectancy to push on is likely to creep up even further.

My fear come the end of the season despite the pro active approach and so on since the summer....we MIGHT actually end up with our worst finish in the championship and that should/could act as a bit of a wake up call to the difficulties of the Championship.

I think a lot has been learned this season which is another positive.

I think it’s the likes of yourself that are learning the lesson that the club is on a journey and after the squad was left bare bones, the club is now in the process of building the squad back up. You are either with the rest of us on that journey or you aren’t and instead demand illogical snd unreasonable instant success that will lead to inevitable disappointment and chance to complain.

It’s looking ever more likely as we get ever closer to running out of Championship runway to reach the top flight of football.

There are signs since Matos took over as manager, that next season could be more productive, and a rise up to the top end of the league table would be a much more achievable prospect.

I can understand the frustration that is felt by the fans, due to our being so tantalisingly close to the playoffs, and this being translated into major criticisms of this that and the other on the forum.

Lord knows I experienced it when, having witnessed the arrival of Snoop Dogg pitch side and felt the carnival vibe that arrived with him, plus the confidence the win against Bristol City on the weekend gave me, I saw an abysmal 1st half performance not worthy of any team in any league at anytime across the country.

Frustrating isn’t the word, as I looked on in disbelief at what was on show before the fans and our illustrious guest.

The 2nd half to my relief, was a massive improvement, but although we did actually equalise to gain a point rather than losing all 3, that moment in time whilst playing against Preston NE felt like it was an opportunity missed to gain ground on a playoff position.

Fast forward to yesterday, and that same nagging feeling came to the fore again as we were royally beaten by Ipswich.

Matos has worked wonders with the squad since his arrival, so much so that even Fulton has been praised for his efforts on the field of play of late.

However, as a work in progress there will be limitations, both with the players that can be called upon and vice versa with the manager.

As to who’s to blame for our woes in the heat of battle on the pitch at the moment, one can only conclude that it is a collective responsibility, top to bottom.

As for us as Swansea City supporters, the best approach for us all to adopt that I can see, would be to keep the faith and stay the course with the new ownership who, to be fair, have improved a number of things since taking charge at the club.

I myself have relaxed my grip on the fanciful notion of finding ourselves in a playoff position come the end of the season.

That’s not to say it may not happen, but it’s getting ever more doubtful as the fixtures are ticked off one by one and we near the month of May.

As for the manager and squad, I would hope and expect that they subscribe to a different approach to this, and that is for them to fight tooth and nail to win as many games and as many of the remaining points up until the final whistle of the final game of the season.

In other words, let’s see more endeavour, drive and determination, like what was seen in the 2nd half performance against Preston NE, and less of what we saw in the 1st half of that match.
Excellent post 👏👏

A Sunday classic.

Just read through every page whilst waiting for a family member.

I’m still none the wiser I’ll be honest 🤣
Nor me ! Hence my reference to this thread going round in circles. We're mid table. Wait for next season. And hope for better

I agree with this too. But a lot of personal angst seems to be coming out on this thread. Pointless.

A need to be right has raised as things have gone on with this thread. Alot of things been taken the wrong way and defensively for some reason.

I have no doubt we are a mid table team. Most of the players we have are capable of keeping us there, a few are capable of a lot more.

We need a refurb, and for that refurb to able to make us serious promotion contenders, we need to put all sentimentality to one side and let the mid table players go to be replaced with some proper quality.
I know we do not have a massive budget, but it can be done on decent money.
It's up to the scouts and football connections to get better players in, and hopefully then we can see what Matos is capable of.

We seem to think that certain players are better than they actually are. Nine of our top appearance makers from last season are still here this season....foundation was there, I think players like Ronald, Eom,Key and possibly Cullen who fall in that group of 9 need to be discussed about come the summer.

You aren’t seriously expecting the club to sell a whole squad in a season are you? Has that ever happened before at any non administration sanctioned club?

Scott sinclair scored 3 goals in the play off final, Eom has scored 4 goals in almost 2 seasons here. That's how far away we are from being a decent side.
