Crystal Palace set to open Cooper talks as their comical search continues

Crystal Palace seem to have finally reached agreement with a manager who is prepared to work with their terms as they are set to confirm former Arsenal and France midfielder Patrick Viera as their new manager. Cooper has been favourite, second favourite, nowhere near favourite again and now cast aside...

A Fulham fan on their board is saying his source is 90% certain the job is Wilders, wouldn’t surprise me as there’s no buy out clause attached to him, difficult situation we find ourselves in as we know Cooper most certainly doesn’t want to be here, and then that will rub off onto the squad, also the fact he’s out of contract next summer, we risk not getting anything for him if he does stay and doesn’t get a new contract.

Your comment regarding the shinanagins rubbing off on our players is valid and worrying. Ideally if Cooper cannot find another club, he should do the decent thing and agree to terminate his contract.

Why would the players play for a manager that doesn't want to be here? Worrying times ahead.

I suppose to suggest because they are professionals that 'earn' huge mounts om money for showing up for a few hours a day would be ridiculous..

What evidence is there that he doesn't want to be here? I have not seen any actual proof that he has been approached or applied for, any of these positions. Its all wishful thinking.

You know eventually that we will play so crap next season he will get sacked and then we pay the compensation and all those that praised the wonderful compensation that secured Cooper will moan like f**k that we are out of pocket

The thought of watching a Cooper team in the flesh makes me want to sleep already

if Fulham want him then lets agree a reduced amount and let him go, it's how the grown ups would play it!

I don't think anyone really wants him. They simply aren't convinced enough that he is anywhere near the best they can get. But yes, a relevant costing approach would say that we are actually saving ourselves a lot of money even if we get shot of him for nothing. Booed out by Christmas unless we are near the top, and maybe even then.

Had a thought while watching the England game, it wouldn’t surprise me if he ended up replacing Southgate eventually, if he has a half-decent spell at a new, English club. A lot of the players were involved with his World Cup winning squad. Something the English FA might be interested in.

Think he will end up at Fulham and the Wilder stories are just a way of us lowering the price. They probably know we want him gone and know they have the bargaining chip.
Take six figures if necessary as Phil said above. Just see it as a relative saving from sacking him and move on

You’re right, but I suppose he would be silly not to make the most of the fairly high-profile interest in him. His stock is pretty high at the moment (outside of Swansea) and he knows that losing Ayew for next season is his ‘get out of jail free’ card gone.

If we finish mid-table next season (which is fairly likely), those potential job offers will dry up pretty quickly.

Free is still cheaper than sacking him three or four months into the season.
