DOF

I wasn’t taken in by anyone, I am a cynical old goat. My opinion was the same before and after meeting them and been consistent on here with my view. Expecting instant results is what is naive.

I said that Luka Modric is an active member of the board and knows all the ins and outs of the Swans operation, he knows a thing or two about football I’d say, as do those working day in and day out for the club I may add, far more than any of us.

I’m really happy with our squad and with our new manager, a view shared by nearly everyone I’ve met outside of the internet.

Looking at the business of every team this summer, I’m sure we net more returns on our investments, including Matos, than anyone else in the league come time to sell them. That’s the only way a club our size can grow, ask Coventry.

Anyway, I am not here to convince anyone nor am I going to justify my glass half full mentality. I was simply passing on info from the pub in response to the subject of the thread.

Try to have a Merry Christmas boys. Its only football. 😀

No maybe about it, they just aren't.
Stamenic was excellent against Wrexham but has also had some poor games, given he lost his father recently that's understandable & hopefully he'll kick on now. I like him.
Inoussa has shown the odd flash of ability but has been generally disappointing & I'd say the same about Widell. That's not to say they won't go on to be good signings but they have a lot of improving to do.
Burgess hasn't been very good, Idah has been worse.
The Premier League loanees haven't contributed enough.
Early days with Matos but I've been impressed so far.

The prem loanee's haven't been given a run in the side apart from Yalcouye. Casey in view fits into our best back 4 but management think different.

You’re not allowed to be happy on here mate, you’ve got to pretend that you’re an expert on how to run football clubs and look for the tiniest issues whilst ignoring all the positives.

The power of now.

Uppafuckingswans.

Mama swan met with some of the people running the football club.
Had a good chat with them and a nice experience.
Posted on here that he did so as it’s an interesting thing that happened.
That’s it!
Not sure why people feel the need to then state saying he’s taken in with them etc.

They are probably wrong in saying they are league leaders in recruiting, but who knows. They probably were quite drunk and just over excited and keen and happy with the result.

We seem to dissect things as if looking for an issue like a traumatised fan.

Which we are, oh yes, I imagine we are with our club 🙄🤣🤣🤣

Pmsl. Spot on. 👍

Exactly, so they've contributed very little.
I'm surprised Yalcouye & Casey haven't had more game time but If our managers don't pick them they've been poor signings & a waste of what player budget we have. The odd squad backup is fine but not all of them.
We regularly see clubs getting promoted from the Championship with loan players who are an integral part of the first 11 & play just about every game.
Our recruitment team just can't get it right, for years now we've seen a succession of loanees who are just squad fillers.

That’s with some benefit of hindsight though. We’ve been lucky so far in not having had much of an injury list since the transfer window closed. Imagine if Burgess, Cabango or Tymon had picked up an injury and were out for a few weeks and we didn’t have Casey or Samuels-Smith to call on, people would have rightly slated the club for lack of squad depth and having to rely on untried u21 youngsters (or Santos, who was injured himself) in key positions. Benson is the only loan signing I would question as being a failure.

As I said, the odd squad filler as cover is fine but none of the 4 are playing regularly.
Don't you see that as a consistent ongoing issue with our recruitment?

I would agree that there have been quite a few loan signings in the past that were questionable to say the least, but don’t think that can be levelled at the current crop (other than Benson). I do think that Casey, S-S and Yalcouye are playing the role they were signed for - decent quality back-up to the first team without committing ourselves to longer term contracts

Fair enough but personally I feel that if we've signed 4 loan players from Premier League teams I'd expect at least 1 to be a first team regular.

Well, even I’m cautiously optimistic. I mean, three wins out of four, and the other game a good showing at a bogey ground. The pressure was bloody intense on Matos after WBA and a 5 game losing sequence, and he has handled it in a first class fashion. I’m looking forward to seeing how this develops now.

Whoa, slow down squire.

How on earth you can make the statement "Matos has become a very popular manager" is beyond me.

He's only been here a matter of weeks. He's done a decent job, and the more recent performances and results have been more encouraging, sure. But let's calm down a bit. Carlos Carvalhal had a similar effect back in 17/18, and that soon faded.

If I didn't know better you appear quite starstruck by your encounter with the club top brass.

As always, praise them for the stuff they do well but that doesn't mean they're getting everything right - and that includes the current manager, who is still in a honeymoon period and we shouldn't forget that.
Slow down, have you not learned by now that you can't question anything about the club?
