Would it really be that bad to become an established Championship team?
Personally I remember thinking we wouldn't be able to make the step up from League 1 all those years ago and would get relegated after one season, the rest is history.

Perhaps we might have found our level, bit like Preston and Bristol City.

Wouldn’t bother me one bit if we were exciting to watch and had a tilt at the top rather than always fearing the drop. Something that balances results and POSITIVE fast paced one or two touch passing football. Unfortunately no league ever allows security of tenure.

This probably is our level, all things considered. We were punching well above our weight for four or five of the Premier League years and it just goes to show what is possible with such a well run outfit, which we were at the time.

This doesn’t mean to say that fans cannot be ambitious. Whilst I’m hopeful for the future I don’t want getting into the same financial predicament as Derby, Reading and co.

of course it is

only spoilt entitled brats think otherwise

For most of my life watching the Swans battle it out in the old 3rd division… I’m still absolutely pinching myself that we’re playing championship football and signing players for £1 million +

I've always said to get relegated from this league, you need to be truly shite

You can have an average or even crap season and still be fine

Tend to agree, but some big clubs have slipped into league 1 and beyond in the past and haven't made it back to the Championship without a struggle if at all.

This in spades.

If you look at big clubs in the context of attendance then there are some excellent examples of this. Sunderland, who can regularly attract 30,000 to a home game, cannot get out of League One. I know a lot of Sunderland fans through work and they all comment on how guilt the club is at wasting financial resources. It all eventually comes back to being a well run, stable outfit.

Ipswich are another example, although with a lesser fanbase.

Also Oldham could become the first side to have played in the Premier League to drop into Non league football.

Count your blessings I say 🙏

Add Sheffield Wednesday to the list.

On top of this there are a few yo-yo clubs who can’t seem to hold their own in the Championship, Rotherham being one.

Think our time in the Premier league was an amazing experience, and we probably done more than established Premier league clubs like Everton by winning a major trophy and playing in Europe, and having done the hard work and got ourselves a foothold in the league it was really disappointing to get relegated, particularly as we had almost got ourselves safe bar a disastrous last 9 games. Brighton in particular are showing that with good investment in their stadium and decent managerial appointments you can survive. It's not so long ago when we played them the last game of the season in league 1 they were playing at the Withdean in front of 6000 fans. The championship is our level at the moment but it's not that long ago we were holding our own in the top division and i don't think you should ever give up on trying to get back there.

Swansea City should always strive to be the best they can, Premier league football and the money we'd make would sustain us for year's, its not particularly nice to be a yo yo club, but the benefits are there to see for a club our size, the more money we make to more we can retain the better quality players, then hopefully we can build and have another run in the Premiership, for another 7yrs hopefully longer, we're a million miles away from that at this present time though.

Everyone should have a Dream :D :D

Every season a quarter of the clubs leave the Championship, whether going up or going down, which when you think about it is a very large turnover. It's an interesting question but no team can plan for mid-table safety every year. Just out of interest, which team currently in the Championship has been here the longest? It was Ipswich for a very long time.

Brighton are where they are cos of a guy called Tony Bloom. The shrewdest businessman that ever walked the planet. He's a one off.
