Planning on going to the Bournemouth game next Saturday, been twice before.
First time went via Chippenham, second time went via Swindon.
Out of curiosity I went onto AA route planner and now the shortest journey apparently is via the Newbury turn off.
Surely that can’t be right?

Come off J18, head south on 46,36,350,354,338 and that should bring you into Bournemouth...approx 3:20mins, give or take. Pleasant journey from what I remember

Safe journey. Nice seafront but a bit of a sod to get to imo.

Had a great midweek break there couple of months back with Mrs SH. The sat nav will give you a few ways to go. Ended up driving through country lanes for almost an hour. Main street there has incredible amount of diverse eateries. Anyone staying there, take a walk on seafront...goes on for fckn miles. Nice place tho.

Last time I was there on a Saturday late afternoon on the beachfront, a 16 year old girl in a bikini was waving a knife about. Nice place.

Teach you to not wave yer cock about on a public beach.

Going via Newbury M4 exit will never be the shortest journey but depending on traffic on other routes, it could sometimes be the quickest. If you use Google maps, it always uses the current traffic conditions and can change every time you look even while you're driving. Don't know what traffic conditions AA Route Planner uses, if any, but the route Samba suggests is probably as good as any at 3hrs 20 mins. However, if you look at Google Maps right now with current traffic, it's saying 4 hrs 6 mins for that route and 4hrs 30 mins for the return journey but they're still the quickest!

I used to do that journey regularly with a thing we used to call 'maps' 😁 My timings are from memory, but I think I'm there or there about correct.

Poole was another lovely place worth a visit in that area...the ladies used to love the South Wales lads down there 😀

Is that because it looks like this?

I would happily spend an extra half hour to hour in free flowing traffic over a half hour in a traffic jam . Impatient as hell.

I go there regularly to visit my son in University it is always quicker going down A34 but I prefer the scenic route via Bath.

Going to.leave 7am on Saturday and staying the night, can't wait.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

I make this journey almost weekly both ways. The big issue at the moment is they are doing major roadworks in Ringwood widening the carriageway from 2 to 3 lanes which tails traffic back on the A31 from Ringwood back towards Southampton and the A338 from Ringwood to Salisbury.

If travelling via Bath or Newbury factor in time for the Ringwood hold up.

Coventry City v Swansea City
