There may be many reasons why people don't take up a place in a shelter when offered.
Some have a no dogs rule, most have a no alcohol or drugs rule and people must not be under the influence of anything when entering the shelter in the evening.
Lots can't or won't abide by those rules.

Lots of people living on the streets are dealing with drug and alcohol addictions. The fact these places are turning them away due to the reason they are in situation in the first place is a little backward.

I'd understand if they were trying to book a room at the Hilton.

Their Chief Executives earning fortunes and paying directors way over the odds those costs have to be covered before the charity gains anything, that's not necessarily true in all cases I know, but its happening.

These places stopped becoming charities a long tine ago.

To be fair, the volunteers manning many shelters could do without the violence that often comes hand in hand with drugs and alcohol. It can be very upsetting when you're not being paid for being threatened and assaulted.
There's a balance to be found somewhere.

I put jeans on today, which is the first time I’ve put long trousers on (outside of work) since last winter I think. My brother came to my house last weekend and he reckoned it was warmer outside my house than inside it.

Our house can be like that with the Mrs in charge of the thermostat. I worked from home today so the house was nice and toastie by the time she got home.

Already got hat, gloves and body warmer ready for tomorrow.

Took the lad to his office in Cardiff somorning been shopping all day there, then picked up youngest from respite safternoon, loves spending money these women, everything she buys is from places with a sale on apparently, I must have mug written on my forehead

Catches me looking at a couple rods online and says you not buying any more fishing gear, little does she know
