I thought I was dreaming the 20mph limit

This is like the Swans and the Americans down fairwood arguing about Matt Grimes and statistics, context matters.. ECB and Neath_Jack are obviously going to back it up, because this is what the tw*ts have voted for, like this non-corrupt Labour government where ambulances are housing patients and to get one, you're better off ordering a taxi instead of dialing 999.. I've actually done this when I fainted and collapsed a few months ago, they told me do I want to wait to see a Dr, what sit here for 11 hours.. f*ck that bollocks I said

You make a valid point. I would have preferred to see only the data on roads which have gone from 30 to 20 mph, that would be more telling as to the success of the scheme, it's rather pointless to include other roads as this skews the data. I dont see how anyone can argue otherwise.
Of course, It's a very good point!

That's all they needed to show, was the statistics from all roads reduced from 30 to 20, and what was the reduction in accidents I must say, it does look pretty dodgy, when they try to blind people by science, where in fact it's pretty simple to do...

Same old Welsh Labour

Edit: And just to add one more thing, these stats they have come up with are utter nonsense, and be honest here, in the Swansea area, how many people you are travelling behind are doing 30 in a 20, honestly apart from learners, I would say 98% plus are still doing 30 in a new 20 zone. The WAG most probably spent a good few hundred thousand on these pathetic stats, and people all over are tearing them to shreds already. Don't forget these accident, are declining on a yearly basis anyway, without taking into other factors. We do not need GASLIGHTING BS from the WAG or Wales Online.

It is impossible to determine the positive impact of 20 mph speed limits on these statistics. This is no different to not being able to see how ADAS, air bag technology, redesign of bumper mechanisms and crumple zones, enhanced pedestrian areas, traffic calming measures in accident hot spots, road safety awareness initiatives, the rise in black box insurance policies, and so on influence the stats. The downward trend of the last ten years is the sum of all of these. Concerning the 20mph topic, political point scoring is inevitable.

Just going through some data, I can see that the reduction of fatalities on roads which have been reduced from 30 to 20 mph has reduced in 2024 Q3 fatalities reduced from 2 to 1 and in 2023 Q3 from 3 to 2, which is tremendous. Other data on serious or slight injuries is less impressive, and from what I can see, it quite disappointing. The caveat to all the figures is that not all accidents are reported to the police.

Seems a complete waste of time and money. Reform will scrap the 20mph limit. Labour have made a right pigs ear of this. On the plus side, after this and other stuff they have done, they will be nowhere near any position of power anytime soon.

The consultation with councils (and councils with residents) should have been completed before the 20mph limit was introduced, not after and it shouldn't have been a blanket change on all 30mph roads. However, they are at least now acknowledging the mistake and working on it. In the meantime, lives have been saved, which can hardly be a bad thing.

Not sure how you think Reform will be in a position to scrap anything. Most recent YouGov poll I can find (from April) has Plaid at 30%, Reform at 25% and Labour at 18% (Tories at 13%, Lib Dems 7%, Greens 5%).

Seeing as how the other parties have been vocal about not even considering a coalition with Reform, they have no chance of governing without vast improvement in their voting share. It seems more likely there'll be a coalition government involving some combination of Plaid, Labour, plus Lib Dems and/or Greens.

Oddly enough, after posting that, I looked at the latest polls myself and saw that, quite shocked at seeing those stats.

It seemed to me the general murmur I have picked up on, is that Reform were miles ahead, but after looking at that, doesn’t seem the case.

It was never a blanket 30 on all roads, just for fairness.

Seems odd that Reform think it was all a waste of money to change road signs from 30 to 20 and then have a policy of wasting even more money to change them back again.
