I remember watching Bumble batting at St Helens, he was England cpt at the time (those distinctive red SS gloves, which I eventually had for Crimbo!) - maybe 1971 or something - I was about 8. It was a hot day, and he was in the middle of a big score. At tea, I ran on and asked Malcolm Nash for his autograph - completely blanked me. I muttered something about Sobers at him! Foolishly, I asked Bumble, he was gloved up, in a bath of sweat. Do you know what, he stopped, took said gloves off and signed for me. Legend. I'll have to write to him!
