Looking at how we set up it's clear our current system doesn't work and we are shipping goals at will.

What if we slotted in Hannes alongside Cabango and Darling and allow the fullbacks to push on with cover.

This hopefully would push Grimes further up the field in a more creative role.

Probably with Luke Matty would still be sitting behind the three to make up a fourth centre back. He's scared and it's his comfort blanket to be back there

I think it is even if it's just to push Grimes out from this role that he absolutely loves because he gets to touch the ball more.

Couldn't be any worse than we currently are at the moment I suppose but our problems are far deeper than that.

I guarantee you if we played that exact formation, what would happen is that Grimes would drop off to become a left centre back alongside Cabango, and it would effectively become a 4-3-2-1. Except Key and Tymon would push on, leaving Franco stranded in the middle of the pitch, then it becomes a shapeless 4-1-4-1 with the 4 furthest forward doing the square root of f*** all defending. It would be a disaster. Probably even worse than now.

Of course, a strong manager would not let this happen and tell Grimes to stop playing at LCB because it's upsetting the balance of the team. But that won't happen, because he does what he wants, and Williams just does as he's told.

Maybe just put Grimes at left back in a back 4?
I don't think Tymon as a left midfield/wing would be terrible, he can deliver a good cross in open play.

Putting Grimes there would then mean we play someone else in midfield alongside Franco.
Agree that Grimes seems to have too much pull in things and all seems to run around captain fannyouttastic.

That would probably be even worse again, because all our play would just get congested down the left hand side, because as we all know, 90% of all other players passes during the 90 mins must go to Grimes. It's the law.

If that’s the case then Williams would gain a bit more respect from me anyway, if he had the balls to bin Grimes

This clearly makes too much sense for the club to do, so I’ll say it before Williams see it, absolute rubbish

😭😂

How about the below for an out of the box selection?

Vigs

Cabango-Delcroix-Grimes

Key-Peart Harries-Franco-Tymon

Cullen

Vipotnik-Bianchini

Grimes spends do much time with yhe centre halves play him on the left of a 3. Cullen who has done an adequate job at linking play as the pivot between midfield and the forwards. Bianchini to buzz about creating space for Vip up top.
