It's going to get worse

Which probably explains why the useless Gollum hasn’t been sacked yet, and why they’re bringing in the Notts County DOF allegedly, Williams is Coleman’s man so he’s not shifting on it imo, but what I will say is confusing is why Grimes put out on his leaving statement that Williams is the right man for the club and he’s brilliant if he had a problem with him.

To add to the theory and my take on it

Grimes goes to Coleman to moan about Williams like he did with Duff, Coleman this time tells Grimes Willliams ain’t going nowhere especially in the middle of a transfer window, Grimes then tells Coleman he wants out gets his move to Coventry and then his leaving statement he says that about Williams to save face when rumours like this circle around that he had an issue with Williams so it doesn’t look like the bad one, because why else would he need to bring him up in a leaving statement.
Probably more truth in that than anyone else's gossip.

Williams needs to be gone.

I'm probably tempting fate with this, but there is no scenario where Diet Martin moves this club forwards. The man is a moron.

I maintain that we've got enough in terms of squad quality as it stands to steer well clear of relegation given competent coaching. We're not going to get that with Williams calling the shots so we need to get rid. I'm not hugely enthusiastic about Sheehan but he probably does know the difference between a midfielder and a winger.

I agree with this. But only to the extent that at best 12th or 13th would be the ceiling.

It remains a very weak group of players in talent and depth, and this latest shitshow window has only worsened the situation.

This season I will cheerfully accept 12th or 13th.

I don't think that we're "very weak". I think that there is quality available, but it will take quality to get the most out of it. The question I have is whether or not those making the decisions are capable of fucking Williams off and finding someone better, as easy as that task would seem.

I would throw in that would be without any injuries and suspensions.

If we could keep 13/14 players for a whole season and without injury or suspension then we are likely looking at 12 to 13th at best.

It's a squad game and unfortunately we don't have a deep enough squad with an average first team so it's no suprise as the season has passed the Christmas stage that we are struggling.

Be it burnout or lack of coaching......the first team is average and the squad is weak in numbers and quality as you look down the numbers.

The brutal reality of our current pool of players is that we only have two players you can hang your hat on every match ie who may not always be at their tip top best every week, but will usually give you a 'net positive' contribution every match.

And those players are Vigoroux and Franco. That's it. That is literally it.

If anyone tries constructing a case for anyone else, then they haven't been watching us closely enough this season.

You're right - net net.
Prem League player O'Brien paid twice as much as Grimes is a massive 'worsening' - diluting our playing identity and $ for $. Speaks volumes

Bottom quartile is looking likely without Grimes and his influence off and on the pitch

It's bang average at best and that is based on a very average championship this season hence the foray into the top half.
We have a young and inexperienced championship squad, players who are not only new to the league but also some new to the country so it's no suprise a big dip just after the Christmas break.

It's a hard take for us all and human behaviour is to look for someone to blame. What can't be excused is the total shambles to help this young struggling squad with at least bringing in a few new faces to the group to give a little boost.

It was looking likely even with Grimes!
We were on a proper roll when Grimes & Co were given the reins.

QPR is the exemplar, the benchmark. The very best example of our unique playing identity of not-so-yesteryear. The Swanseaway in all it's beauty.

Williams is just a disaster - he really is thicker than some of our twpest online fans

You shouldn't put yourself down that much.

You come up with a good point now and again 😁

I've said since the start of the season that I'd expect us to finish somewhere between 12th and 16th. Anything higher and we'll have done well, anything lower and Williams should be getting his coat

I'd love 12/13th/14th this year, as it gives us a chance to start a rebuild.
I'd actually be happy with 19/20th if we started a rebuild in the summer.
Going to be nigh on impossible to do a decent rebuild in L1, as the dickhead owners will think our "Championship squad of 13 maybe 14 players???????" will be good enough to get us straight back up.

Still an optimist.
Believing we may start a rebuild in the summer :ROFLMAO:
