• We have today (22nd April) confirmed the closure of JackArmy.net on 31st May. Our reasons are varied but after a twenty-five year stint at the heart of the online Swansea City community, the time is right for us to bow out.

Another enormous thank you to Phil. Planet Swans has been a huge part of my online life.

My favourite poster: Darren. Never met the guy and haven't even interacted with him much but I really enjoy his persona on here.

My least favourite poster: Dimi and his other aliases. He made this forum unbearable.

But whether I have agreed with you or not thank you to all the regular posters, YJBs.

Been busy lately and didn't have a chance to read this thread. I thought Phil was handing over the reigns, so shocked when I actually read and realized that the forum is closing completely. Can't say how much I'm devastated, this is the only forum I read.

I can only repeat what everyone else said and a big thank you for the last 25 years, I'm sure you have your reasons to not pass it on, as devastating as it is, I'm sure we'll all survive.

There is already a r/swanseacity subreddit which i joined a while back, don't post on it often they do a pre match and match thread, could join that one or start another eg r/jackarmy to keep this 1 as its own entity
Yeah, I’m not the biggest fan of the existing subreddit. I do like your idea for r/jackarmy. The great thing is that aside from moderation there isn’t much in the may of management required.

Theres some right weird ones on that subreddit.
On reddit you can create a match thread type thing as well. which will show updates and events, such as yellows goals etc. Maybe worth a Shout

I do go on there but it isn’t that active. Plus they didn’t have the kindest of words about this site when the news broke it would be shutting down. Could be a good shout with a r/jackarmy

Never got my head around that place. It looks complete chaos, not the actual content but the lay out and navigation of the place.

Would I be opening a can of worms if I asked why isnt the Independant an obvious alternative which I will probably join when transfer window opens? I can see names I recognise on both forums. Or maybe a Facebook private group? I appreciate some people have reservations about that platform though.
Some don't like it, some have been banned from it for abuse etc. I personally like the indy, and always been open about it, but their forum function is poor. The great thing about this forum is it's accessiblity. But beggers can't be choosers. But some will 😂😂 no doubt.

Ah ok. Thanks for explaining.

I only have it on my phone, seems straightforward enough to me and I'm not super techy, got list of my subs on the 3 bars and the feed will put in stuff from there or whatever, don't know what it looks like on a computer

And just when Kaplan and Levien had vacated the stage exit left to be replaced by owners who, at least on the face of it, have some passion, commitment and drive for the club to become successful again.

To me, as I’m sure it is for everyone else, this is truly a sad end to such a wonderful forum and website.

Everything about it just oozes class, from the man himself who has pulled out a Herculean effort to run the show for 25 years, to the many and varied posters who grace the boards on here.

As for my sentiments on this wonderful place that we call home, which is looking like we won’t be able to refer to as such, come the end of the month, I can think of only one song that will sum them up:

It’s been Shakespearean.
