Jacob Wright - £4m

We can moan at Coleman for basically everything else this window, but not sure this lies on him at all
Agreed.
Coleman did everything to keep this quiet so other clubs wouldn't gazump us.
My guess is that the player's agent put it out in the public domain to try to get other clubs in on the action

So he's been linked with the far north east , extreme west and now furthest east so he's going to Plymouth then.

My guess is that the boy just didn’t fancy us. Don’t discount that players and ex players all talk to each other, no different to any other walk of life. Had second thoughts at the last minute and pulled the plug. I don’t blame him one bit either.

It's players choice and if he wants easy street then we don't need a player like that. Let's face it, it's never easy street with us, even when we are doing OK in the table. We need players who back it up at times when it's bleak. We have enough players who are bottle jobs now. Why add another?

"If he wants easy street" 😂

As if players should be honoured to join us. We are heading in only one direction and you can't blame anyone for not wanting to be part of that

I literally just said that. If you go through life choosing the easy options then it's gonna be shock when life hits you hard. Did I say I blame him
No. Good luck to him. I'm just saying we need fighters in character. He might be a fighter, who knows. But we don't need players who are not up for it. Something is off, he was at Fairwood yesterday. So if it wasn't for him, then fair enough. Move on. We need players who want to be here. Even if situation is dire at moment.

Don't buy into this position of where we are. Millwall have signed 7, Luton 8 , Oxford 6. Hull 7 Plymouth 5

Doesn't change the fact that someone put the pending transfer into the public domain
Coleman was tamping about that
If he turns us done hoping another club comes in and it doesn't happen or the other club offers a shittier deal to Man City than we did then Man City will also be pissed

Coleman was tamping? Awwww bless his useless American cotton socks. It’s because of HIM that we are in this position, not some 19 year old kid trying to make the best decisions for himself. Fuck me sideways…

A Coleman who for the past four years has been hamstrung by Kaplan and Levein being the ones in charge of the purse strings. By many accounts a lot of the more promising deals that had been lined up were scuppered because they refused to endorse them.

The Darling situation is also one that can firmly be put at their feet and nothing to do with Coleman who was ultimately just the public facing target while they asset stripped as much of the club as they could before calling it quits.

While Coleman does have a lot that can be laid at his feet, his conduct in trying to get the Wright deal over the line is not one of them. The reality is that due to the better part of a decade of mismanagement at the highest levels of the club right now our financial situation is one where we either are left picking at the scraps or they are deals where we have no choice but to keep everything quiet until the deal is done.

The latter was the case with the Wright deal, no one had any clue about it until Man City had accepted our bid and terms were allegedly agreed with the player. That this all came into the public domain after that leads me to one conclusion:

The player either got cold feet or his advisors told him they could get him a better deal or a better club elsewhere. Man City had already accepted the bid so it wouldn't benefit them to put the deal out in the public domain neither would it benefit us. The only party left involved who had anything to gain or any motive was the player and/or his advisors.

Anyone who gets pissed at Coleman for this is just blinkered or throwing eggs at him just for the sake of it/out of habit

Then you have alternatives lined up,
Not wait until deadline day to try and sign a player:

We were told
Players were lined up in December - what has happened is a disgrace

Reluctance to get dragged into a potential relegation dogfight or not wanting to be here long term?

Or just our usual inability to get deals done?
We've been here before haven't we.

Just to recap - the bloke in charge of getting these deals done has no more experience of this stuff than your local greengrocer or baker does. He's a fuckwit.

In all seriousness, you or I could do as well. At least we’d have a genuine connection to the club and stand a better chance of winning the hearts and minds of targets.

We’re fked under these amateurs. They have to go.

You know as well as I do what the January transfer window is like.
No one wants to weaken their squad in January, normally one of two things happen:

1. Someone comes in with a big bid worth more than you can turn down
2. Player gets their head turned with offers of more wages and asks to leave

We are not in a position to realistically offer either of those scenarios to other players.

As a result we might have players identified but unless those clubs source replacements and the clubs they are buying from source THEIR replacements we are not at the top of the food chain like we used to be when we still had plentiful Premier League cash in the coffers.

If those clubs didn't get any of THEIR identified targets then they would be unwilling to accept any bids from us which forces us onto plans B, C, D, etc

We don't have a transparent view of what has happened over all of January in the transfer window as far as the club is concerned and its incredibly unlikely that would ever change unless the club becomes 100% fan owned again.

It would indeed make incredibly interesting reading if we did have access to such a thing, but unless the trust gets involved to ask for a play by play of our transfer dealings (or attempts thereof) during the January transfer window it won't happen. And we know how soft bellied the trust is.
