Who has come here in the last 4 years or so and gone on and thrived? Piroe and Downes and that's about it. The list of players who have come here and been crap is 10 times as long. The list of players who have come here, been crap and then gone elsewhere and been great is fairly substantial too.

If I was him and backed myself, I'd stay at City until the summer and then go and play for someone better than us...

Exactly. World class coaching, world class facilities, players around me who will mentor me, and so on. No need to come down to boggy South Wales for a relegation scrap where it will be difficult to shine.

To be fair Swansea was infamous in some circles for players doing superbly here but looking like shit elsewhere.

From Jason Scotland to Leon Britton to Neil Taylor to Dorus de Vries to Darren Pratley to Wilfried Bony.
The list of stars who went elsewhere and then their careers stalled is enough to make a side good enough to walk this division

The dose of reality that everyone needs right now. I could not agree more.

We're not the club we were 15 years ago, where we had a little bit of a reputation building as a club that was very well run and if you did well you could either start off or resurrect a very good career for yourself. Those days are long gone.

Looking at it lucidly, ie not as a fan, you'd be fucking barking to come here now if you needed a bit of a boost or a pick-me-up. We are way down the list of football desres.

We are now the opposite. We are now the blip on good players' CVs. Whittaker, Al Hamadi, Joseph, Gykores, probably soon to be Abdulai.
