January Transfer Rumours

What a dilemma
I would take this opportunity to get rid of a player who has run his course with us
HOWEVER, would we get someone to replace him as its another off our thin squad
HOWEVER, he puts minimal effort in now. If we didn't let him go I can see him doing even less and just strolling around the defence picking his nose
AND we'd be to blame for the meltdown of LaLolly

Absolutely. The reality is it will be the cheapest one, or more likely, neither.

FEBRUARY UPDATE FROM ANDY

Unfortunately, we lost Matt towards the very end of the window. Losing our captain blindsided us and him wanting to go is something we didn't expect. But we let him go because we only want players here who are proud to wear the Swan on their chest, represent your city and are dedicated to the Swansea Way.

We tried for a few players and got very close to some but January is a very hard time to do business and so with clubs reluctant to let their best players go, we couldn't quite get them across the line. It certainly wasn't for want of trying though. My phone was being charged several times a day!!

As fans we always want to see new players but they need to improve the group. We feel we have a lot of quality in central midfield already with Franco, Joe and Jay all of whom have an array of experience. We are also excited to see the emergence of Ben Lloyd who is highly rated by everyone at the club. We also expect to welcome back Oli Cooper in the coming weeks. Oli was excellent before his unfortunate injury and we expect him to play an important role between now and May.

For those are frustrated, please know we share this frustration. But please rest assured that we are already working hard behind the scenes preparing for the summer transfer window.

Jack Army!

Are you the PR officer?

Even Andy would be proud of that.

SEPTEMBER UPDATE FROM ANDY

Unfortunately, losing Championship football back in May blindsided us, and limited our summer trading options considerably. We tried to get some deals over the line before deadline day, but the bottom line is we only want players here who are proud to wear the Swan on their chest, represent your city and are dedicated to Our Way, the Swansea Way ™. [MAKE SURE THIS LAST BIT IS NOT REMOVED FROM THE FINAL DRAFT - THANKS, ANDY]

We were sorry to see Harry Darling depart on a free, and Franco get snapped up by newly relegated Southampton who made us an offer of £1m+ a guaranteed further £10m if they ever win the Premier League that, in our current position, we just couldn't refuse.

We were also sad to say goodbye to Lawrence Vigouroux, Ben Cabango and Liam Cullen who all stated their wish to leave in order to stay playing their trade at Championship level. It was very hard to refuse those requests for players who have given good service and, again, the deals were right for the club in the current place we find ourselves in.

We also thank Luke Williams for his service in very trying circumstances but after relegation we mutually agreed a parting of the ways was probably for the best.

But it's not all doom and gloom. Season tickets have just hit the 2k mark. We feel we still have a lot of quality for this level and we were delighted to agree new deals with Kyle Naughton, Joe Allen, a hologram of Ivor Allchurch, and we were delighted that Lee Trundle has decided to come out of retirement to bolster the squad. Welcome back, Lee!

We are also excited to see the emergence of [INSERT NAME OF 5 OR 6 YOUTH TEAM PLAYERS IN HERE - THANKS, ANDY] who we feel will play a huge part for us this season. We hope you're excited by them as much as we are!

All in all we feel we are well placed for a strong season at third tier level under our new head coach, Alan Pardew, who was infectious at interview and desperate to join us [COMMS TEAM - PERHAPS YOU CAN COME UP WITH BETTER WORDS THAN INFECTIOUS AND DESPERATE. LEAVE IT WITH YOU ANYWAY. ANDY].

For those who are frustrated, please know we share your frustration. But rest assured we are already working hard behind the scenes preparing for the January 2026 transfer window to give Alan and his assistant, Michael Chopra, the support he deserves.

[I REMOVED THE BIT HERE ABOUT DOWNGRADING THE ACADEMY TO LEVEL 3. MAYBE WE'LL KEEP THAT BACK FOR NOW. THANKS, ANDY]

Keep the faith, Jack Army.

Laughing and unfortunately, most likely bang on

Putting aside what you think about Grimes and whether he deserves to have the first-team revolve around him, the fact remains that under this manager...the first-team revolves around Matt Grimes, so if he wants out, we need to get this done ASAP, without question well before the game on Saturday.

How weird is training going to be this week prepping for an opponent your club captain might well be turning out for?

They could put a stipulation in that the transfer will go through Sunday. But our lot wouldn't think of that

There's still too many fans living in the days of yore where he gave a shit, did something and was any good. Unfortunately.

If you shoot your mouth off about spending money and then it becomes a false promise then Lord (Swansea) Heseltine says today that something should be done to sort you out. The good Lord called it a pack of lies, I would describe it as a fraudulent conspiracy.

I remember a time when there were gentlemen's agreements that players wouldn't play if they were transferred just before the sides played each other

We’ve spent money, but unfortunately on two fullbacks who can’t defend, a CB who can’t play and two strikers who can’t score. And on paying off managers. Wasting money hand over fist.
