January Transfer Rumours

Bobby Clark on paper would be a great signing but it’s a shame we seem to be relying on 3 potential loan signings today

We need permanent transfers today otherwise we’ll be back in the same situation in the Summer where we need another 8/9 players
In fairness, unless the worse case scenario happens and we get relegated, Wright is effectively a permanent transfer. Don't know why Bobby Clark's name has re-emerged, not a chance we sign all 3 in my view.

Happy that we seem to be looking at a couple of central holding midfielders but Wright,O'Brien and Clark do not seem to be the goalscoring/creative players so urgently needed.

Winger and a 10 are a must to at least give us some sort of creativity/goalscoring threat.

Clark is a No.10

Realistically we're never going to get the calibre needed in this window in terms of permanent transfers. The damage was done in the summer.

If we get quality loan signs ready for the first team in this window it will help rather than getting the type of players like Ashby, that lad from West Ham last season and Abbey this season.
This all the way. Get the players in now (and a new manager soon) who can keep us up this season. The summer is a better time to make permanent signings (theoretically at least).

I'd be happy to see O'Brien and Wright sign as O'Brien has been clearly better than any midfield option we have other than Franco, while Wright is hopefully a promising talent. It did concern me that both seem to be more defensive midfield options when we also need someone more attacking/creative. Clark could be that player and although I don't think we are going to get him in on loan, I did see in that BBC article that the manger who signed him for Salzburg left in December. If his replacement doesn't rate him and is happy to get his wages off the books until the end of the season, perhaps this could have legs?

It's the hope that kills you, etc.

Got to be happy with the three names currently linked. They appear to be the type of players needed to make a difference to the first team and not the type just to make the numbers up and warm the bench.

Loans are lazy and a cheap panic option plus it just kicks the can further down the road.
But cost us a lot less than a permanent signing and we haven't shown much aptitude at picking out suitable permanent signings recently. I'd rather three loanees that cost us nothing past the end of the season (although Wright looks likely to become a permanent signing if reports are accurate), than an expensive permanent flop like Pederson.

We could sign Jude Bellingham and he'd find something to moan about.

Away from the Swans, Palace have rejected a £70m offer for Guehi from Spurs.

Looking back from the players we have today, it seems unreal that we had the likes of Gibbs-White, Gallagher and Guehi here.
