• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Aye, especially when we usually find our 2nd rate players in this country at double the price ☝️
Okay I sort of get your point but, for starters, at least they're used to EFL. Eom, Ronald, Bianchini, Barrow, Montero, Mesa, Vazquez, Schecter etc etc etc. Pile of turd for the level we're/we're at. Montero had his moments I suppose. Since the days of Martinez and the Spanish connection and possibly, Laudrup (although I would say that Canas, Amat and Pozuelo weren't brilliant) our scouting mechanisms have made our foreigners flatter to deceive. Just my opinion like.
You're not telling me that there aren't players of the same standard or better as people like this guy playing in L1 who would cost the same ?

Almost all of our biggest success stories have come from finding "second rate" players from outside the country.

Jason Scotland, Angel Rangel, Michu, Chico Flores, Joel Piroe and Wilfried Bony (1st version) are just a few names that spring to mind. We rarely had great success buying "proven" players, there is a lot to be said for intelligent scouting and recruitment when it can save you 50-60% or more on finding players.

What I'm trying to say is, on a whole, our entire scouting strategy has been a massive clusterfuck both in this country and abroad, the problem with recruitment, now and for many years has been amateurish from a start to finish most cases.

I don't think we have time to experiment or gamble on ptentially promising players from Frech League 2.

We will be in a relegation battle soon and need tried, tested and proven battlers who are experienced in the championship.

I know. I said that mun.
I said in my thread about players from Martinez to Laudrup era. I actually said that.
I said since then we've picked up dross. Our scouting mechanism SINCE then has been shite and we've ended up with shite.

Okay, i forgot about Piroe, he was an exception to the norm of recent times

And the one that started it all, Tabanou.

I mean to be fair we picked up plenty of duds during the "golden era" too, we were just able to quietly brush them under the carpet / out the door without making too much of a fuss.

Gorka Pintado, Borja Baston, the guy we loaned from Ipswich under Rodgers during our promotion season to name a few.

Pintado's only meaningful contribution in a Swansea shirt was that tackle on Robbie Savage

Scored a banging volley against them lot too I think from a Shaun McDonald corner
