Jenny Kackett sacked

Kenny was great for us in that period, he definitely deserves praise even if his style of football wasn’t innovative, but just ran out of ideas.
At least his form of direct football was, more often than not, entertaining.

I happened to be sat behind the dugout the night Jackett lost the plot after getting some stick from a couple of lad's, repeatedly telling them to fùck off in front of children until he was advised to calm down by a steward.

When he was asked about the incident, instead of apologising, he completely denied it.

That's when i lost any respect for the man.

Fùck him 👍

He certainly fixed our defence which, before he came, was like a wet paper bag. Seeing someone like Big Kev Austin coming in was a revelation.

Jenny Kackett was a poor player and a boring manager, in spite of having some decent players.

Scoring those 7 against the worzels was seriously boring, and the play off final had me yawning my head off.

I think he reached his ceiling, but I don’t remember that season (I only saw all the home games and the play off final) as being boring at all.

We were definitely nowhere near boring during that first season in League One. The football was good and - certainly from what I remember of home games - we were entertaining to watch

100+ goals in all competitions that season. Top goalscorers in the division.

Like you say, he'd reached his level with us, but there's an awful lot of nonsense spouted about him.

Oddly there is an equal (or sometimes more) spouted about many of his successors as well right up to Laudrup.

Jackett
Roberto
Paulo
Brendan
Laudrup

All took this club forward and helped us get to the pinnacle.

I would also add Flynn to that list. As well as the 2002-03 escape, he brought in players that were key to our team for the rise up the divisions (Trundle, Robinson, Martinez, Tate, Britton)

Yes I agree, absolutely spot on comment.

Flynn was a dreadful manager for us. He brought in some legends but I believe all those names above signed permanently in his second season when he was sacked after a few weeks for being complete and utter gash.
Plus there’s his first season where even though he had to clean up Cusacks mess he came in in September and it took him until the last game of the season to save us.
People get deflected by his signings, look at his managerial record with us and it’s complete gash.

Did he refuse to stop for a photo or something ;)

Far from perfect but advanced the team, kept us in the league and set us on the right direction. Which the next managers (again, up to Laudrup) continued to build on

Swansea City v Leeds United
