Jerry Yates

Can't blame "lack of service" today. Wonder what excuse will come next.
He had the service today, no excuses......well not from anyone who is honest anyhow.

Cullen will take the mantle next game but surely Mykolo isn't far off being given an opportunity.

Offered very little today. He is a passenger we cannot afford to carry.

He's right up there with Aiden Newhouse and Linton Brown for me, take the money we wasted on him into account and probably worse...

This is what the data model does...

It's often argued that we are not creating the sort of chances Yates would stand a good chance of scoring from. That's fair enough and I wouldn't totally disagree but that surely means he's not the right man to have in that position in the system we are now using so to persist with him is completely pointless and nothing is going to change no matter how many times we try. I don't think Cullen as a 9 is the answer either as both he and Yates are similar in that role i.e not tall enough, not physical enough and not able to hold the ball up well enough. Both are the sort of player who would do well playing off a big target man who would occupy central defenders while the likes of Yates and Cullen would feed off the space that creates in the box and any resulting knock downs. They can't create enough of their own scoring opportunities.

If he isn't out of the door as soon as the summer window opens, I'd be shocked. It's been a disastrous signing. He needs to leave, it's not worked for him here and he's never going to win the fans over, sometimes that happens in football, you can try as much as you like but it just isn't going to work.

Is the club prepared to swallow its pride and accept a loss on him? If so, how much of a loss? Is there a club out there daft enough to pay money for him and keep him on his current wages?

He could be difficult to move on.

Didn’t he turn down Leicester to join us? If so he must be on a decent whack in wages.

Yes, he needs lucky bounces in the box or, and I don't know why we can't set this up for him, shots from the edge of the box. Other than that, imo, he literally has nothing to offer. No pace, no skill, no touch, no strength, no positional sense, no physical presence and no speed of thought. Apart from those one or two specific situations or luck that suit him he is the very embodiment of gash.
