Absolutely no inside information or suggestion it will be happening but could someone like Martin get the best out of someone like Hourihane?

Yeah. And Celina.

Lots of work to come Phil!

You'd like to think that players like Hourihane (and Dhanda, and Celina) would be happier under a manager like Martin than Cooper.

Think there was more going on with Hourihane than that though.

I’m not sure to be honest, he was slow and laboured, I would have thought Martin would want players who when we haven’t got the ball, work their socks off to get it back, that’s how teams dominate possession.

I think any midfielder would prefer a manager who doesn't lump the ball past the midfield

I just think that some players were stifled by Coopers style of play. Maybe Mr Martin will let the boys play with a bit more freedom, bit more panache. It was all a bit laboured and very tedious to watch, god knows what the player thought.
Anyway here's hoping.

So it's official, Hourihane is coming back!!!
Yet another PS scoop 🙌

I really hope not.

Absolutely, when we signed Hourihane I genuinely thought he could be the missing link, Villa have let him go and I'd be surprised if any championship side would take a punt on him tbh

There was obviously a good player in there somewhere but it’s like there’s something ‘wrong’ with him. Maybe he’s just checked out mentally but he looks finished as a player to me.

Every club he has been at, their fans wax lyrical about him. I don’t believe he turned into a bad player in his short time here, I just think he was a victim of the system employed by Cooper.

None of our players last season apart from possibly Ayew looked like they had any attacking flair about them, none of them took risks, looked to be overly positive. As a side we barely attacked in most games.

I think a lot of our players may suddenly look very different.

I think you are a history revisionist.
We would all like to have seen them score more goals and attack more but seem to remember some brilliant moments from the likes of Roberts, Cabango, Guehi, and others.
We could have done a lot better with a different coach mind

If we were to see Hourihane back then yes I feel under a different manager we would see more out of him.
I feel Martin will play to players strengths, rather than asking then to do what they are unaccustomed to ?

A few moments of good football in an otherwise low scoring, low attacking, low shot two seasons.

164 shots on target last season. Or between 3 and 4 a game if you prefer. 11th best in the league.

478 shots in total. Just over 10 a game. 19th best in the league.

56 goals. 9th best in the league.

Those stats don't happen if you're an attacking team.
