Aye. I very much doubt that we've spent the kind of money we have aiming for a mid table finish.
Do you on a personal level feel that this squad is a given to finish higher than mid table?

The question is also open to others and I feel it's relevant in regards to the title thread.

Well before the season started i think the general thought was in Galbraith , Widell and Yalcouye we had signed 3 excellent midfield players . Inoussa was i think accepted as a decent signing as well. Is the manager getting the best out of these players? or are they taking time to settle. Personally i don't think the manager has a clue what his best team is or where best to play some of the new recruits. I do think we are desperate for a real number 10 to link defence and attack and to play balls through the centre of the pitch for our strikers to run onto. All our attacks are channelled down the wings.

Nothing is a given. It's certainly good enough to do so.

It feels to me a squad where its most natural fit is mid table, however, with a fair wind (and by that I mean good fortune with injuries and suspensions, Sheehan deciding on a clear best XI, and one or two players catching fire) we might be able to trouble the lower play-off positions.

I'd be absolutely fine with a comfy mid-table finish though. It would represent progress from the last 4-5 years. I see this as a building block season to be able to push on next year.

My view on it is similar to this but I do worry that the board might want an instant upgrade on the last few seasons and see a genuine push for the play offs as realistic.
We continually have seen the need for a solid foundation, I see this one as the first real solid layer, previous seasons have seen that foundation crumble.

I just hope the board are understanding of the situation because chucking money in doesn't necessarily mean instant success or even improvement. If they do expect something then they can take the heading of this post on board.

Things are certainly being done right, we don't have much room to manoeuvre and we can't afford costly mistakes.

Depends what people view mid table as. I think top 10 this season and pushing for playoffs next season would be the expectation. This year was always going to be about integrating such a high player turnover for me.
