• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

It is a very odd thing to say publicly in my opinion.

I still think Grimes is dropping about 5-10 yards deeper than he should be, he should be helping the centre halves and full backs to be making triangles to give passing options for whoever has the ball rather than dropping in as a third centre half.

When we played under Rodgers every defender on the ball had at least four options open to them:
Full back: play to CDM, inside to CH, forward to winger or back to keeper
CH: play to other CH, outside to FB, forward to CDM or back to keeper

And that wasn't accounting for Williams's laser guided cross field balls to the winger.

He clearly hasn’t lost the players and all the details will have been discussed with Grimes. It’s just an attempt to freshen things up and give it a kickstart. I can’t imagine Russel Martin being so humble and self-aware. Williams just up a little bit in my estimation, just a tiny bit mind.
I’m all for trying something new when the usual approach isn’t delivering results, but why put this out in the public domain?

He’s made a rod for his own back now that we’ve seen that first half performance.

I think Matty has been crying to Lukey and saying he will tell tales because everyone is saying bad things about him and it has to stop or he will scream and scream and scream

So which of these apply to Grimes on playing so deep? -

A trusted player to start the moves from the back

Wants to control the tempo and possession

Wants to keep out of the physicality of central midfield

Covers for Key where he wanders off

Covers for Tymon as he can't get back

Covers for Cabango and Darlings lack of pace

Unable to play box to box

All of it just leads to the conclusion that things are not happy behind the scenes. Even his recent praise of Grimes seemed a bit OTT, almost as if he was doing it sarcastically.

It's too effusive. Things are not right behind the scenes.

It's simple, you read the riot act publicly and privately and fail to get a response. You step out of the situation and suddenly there's a response. What does that tell you?

Or does anyone really think that the players thought "we'll do it for Luke as this will really prove to him that we want to do it for him"

I just think it's an odd thing to admit to the press.

The performance and result against Luton just brings a little more scrutiny after this public confession.

I've slept on it and come to the conclusion that when any one player has that much power and influence at a football club, it is rarely a healthy thing. Especially when that player is not amongst the division's best, which Grimes certainly is not. It's not as if he's Steven Gerrard or Matt Le Tissier, just winning games on his own week after week after week.

No, it's very concerning for me. Something quite rotten about it. Don't like it at all.
