I think at this late stage with no guarantee that we’d get sufficient replacements in, we have to stick with him.

I think it depends on how much we might get for him and whether or not any money would be used to strengthen. Russell Martin will want to get players in to play the way he wants and at the moment, there is no money to do that although TBH, Grimes would probably be one of the first players he would want to keep to start building up that style of possession football. Maybe he'll have to do it through loans like Cooper did.

Massive fan of Matty, there's a huge gap left with him not in the middle, but if the funds generated from his sale are the only resources we have to strengthen in multiple areas I think he has to be sold, especially in his last year.

Grimes's best season was under Potter when we played expansive football, same with VDH who was one of the top rated defenders in the Championship that season and was another who went backwards under Cooper. The same happened with Celina as well, all of these were players who created and/or scored goals and every single one went backwards over the space of a single season with Cooper.

We did see towards the tail end of last season that Grimes can have a rocket of a left boot, the defensive aspect of his game DID improve under Cooper and I think that blending that with a more attack minded playstyle might see us get our best season yet out of Grimes. It could arguably be said that we have a ready made replacement in Liam Walsh, however Walsh needs time to build up fitness again after an injury hit season last year.

It goes without saying though that if we do sell Grimes, the cash MUST go to Martin to be able to invest in the squad.

Someone said on here that he (well, his agent) was looking for a contract of £30,000 a week. We can't give him that, and if he's going to leave for nothing at the end of the season, then I'd get a bit of cash now to pay for a couple of loans.

Im pretty sure if someone comes in he'll be gone, not sure whats happened with Fulham interest
but hes our highest earner atm and is looking for more money, we're trying to go back to the build of we spend what we can afford, so if we can sell him and replace him with someone similar on half the money the club will do that

New contract and not captain. Or sell and strengthen with the money.

I’m cool either way. No real point in him just running his contract down nor him being captain.

Too negative for me.
Sideways or back with the occasional surge forward
Maybe will be different under Martin ?
We'll see if he stays.
However, if he goes then I won't be too disappointed.
Either way should not be captain - way too quiet

Fulham closer to a deal for some Brazilian lad Muniz, striker, according to Mike McGrath of the Telegraph, £8m!!!

If Grimes is 1.5M I’m sure they won’t have a problem, they better hope they get promoted this season
