After Fulton hit a late winner against Reading? from distance Russy admitted to being horrified that he'd taken the shot at all. Perfectly illustrates the mentality that coaches who advocate this style have. All stats and percentages obsessed. Killing the fun in the game. Interesting read about it below...

The irony behind all of this is that Williams agreed to sell Abdulai because he was way behind in the pecking order for his preferred CDM position. Then Grimes hands in a transfer request and suddenly we have only Franco as a CDM option at all (I refuse to even acknowledge Fulton's existence in the squad let alone as a CDM)

I'd be very surprised if we spent £3m+ on anyone. Also concerned if it's a good investment given our recent recruitment. I suppose it's a good sign that at least the last central midfielder we signed seems to have been a hit.

I wouldn't be at all confident of the current manager/coaching staff to develop him & get the best out of him.
Invest in him now & get a competent manager & coaching team to get the most out of him.

My only worry is that our current "scouts" are shite. Go on stats. It's easy to say look on YouTube but we could make Grimes, this season, look good on there, by putting 5 minutes of forward play on ( yes I think we could just about get 5 minutes worh). Also, these are the same people who brought us the Eoms, Ronald's and Buanchinis of this world (yes I rate non as Championship level).
I hate being eternally pessimistic about our club but that's what the last what the current staff and about 15 years of January transfer windows have done to me. Who remembers the January of Darnel Situ and Bessone's return ?

Grimes has no doubt gone backwards this season.
How much of that is down to coaching / playing to instructions only he and Williams will know.

One thing is true though without a doubt, there is only so many times that a manager can throw players / his entire squad under the bus before they get sick and tired of him, especially if they are being told to play that way by him.

Widell is described as a ball carrying box to box playmaker.
One would expect that that is the position that he will be asked to play in with Cullen ahead of him and Franco/Allen behind him.

That's just me thinking out loud and wondering if it is. There's been no movement in the much needed CAM position until now. Much like getting Hannes Delcroix seemingly only because Darling is banned. IDK though.

Not too sure about Joey. He should be retired. He's fucked after 15 minutes. The problem is who else ? Fulton lol. Where is Cooper, serious question. Is he injured, I presume so.
