Montague

Was Montague appointed prior?
The owners took over in October 2024 and Montague arrived in February 2025......4 months after they took over.
I'm guessing, they got Montague on board on the recommendation of Coleman.
Who is the owners go to now? Gorringe? Dimi/DrP?

There are certain sections who see Gorringe as an issue and you hear about his failings at Bristol Rovers.

Why would anyone see Gorringe as an issue. Has the new ownership group done anything to suggest they don't know what they are doing yet?

I'll trust them until I have reason not to with their judgement personally. Clubs in a better place than it has been for well over a decade since they took over, again, in my opinion.

I was just about to say the same think.
It is Daps mind.
I think you'd agree Darran, we're very lucky to have someone like Tom representing and working for the club.

Done brilliantly for us since he's been appointed and a very good bloke also.

Montague was lined up by Coleman months before. Williams was asked about it frequently by media.

The dynamic before end of feb was Coleman, Cravatt and Cohen running things.

This changed significantly in late February/early March with Coleman moving out and then essentially Cravatt and Cohen running things. Although, Sheehan also adds George Popstepanovs to that list when he speaks of owners. So i'm guessing he is heavily involved.

The point being is that it's fairly obvious that the new group started to really kick in from end of Feb, you've only got to look at what's happened since.

Gorringe is the owners man, no doubt. They elevated him to CEO and have put huge faith in him.

Time will tell how good people are, but i would find it astonishing if the owners got rid of a guy that was instrumental in the last window. He obviously wasn't as influential as we all think on here.

Personally i started to get concerned after the latest fans forum, Montague didn't seem to know details on things and was instead talking far more around process. It was very different to how he came across in the first one

Before I reply in full, I must add I don't see an issue with him myself.
Some seem to have issues with his past dealings whilst at Bristol Rovers and his links with the terrace(his mate supposedly runs it).
He does seem to have a bit of a past but I'm certainly a believer in people make mistakes and deserve a second chance.

As you know I’ve spoken to Tom over something a few times in the last week and the word impressed doesn’t do him justice. .

Don’t know if anyone has seen this . So thought I would post - from Montagues linked in page :

Start :
Well that was short but sweet!

Sadly my time at Swansea has come to an end, but I'm immensely proud of the work we did over the summer to completely rebuild the squad and set it up for future successes in the Championship, especially coming in and picking up the pieces after such a difficult January window for the club. I would have loved to continue but understand the club moving to a different model and way of doing things, and wish them every success in the future.

I want to especially thank Tom Gorringe, Ben Greenwood, and James Morgan-Snowley for their tireless work throughout the transfer window, allowing us to retool so comprehensively with the support of ownership. I’m so proud of the squad we built and the type of characters we have brought to the club. Everything is there for the club to have a great season.

I have met so many brilliant people both at the club and in the city, and me and my family have loved living in South Wales. Despite it being so brief, I will always have fond memories of the club and consider myself an honorary Jack. It's a brilliant brilliant club with a proud history and identity and I like to think I tried to maintain and preserve that.

Needless to say I'm now looking to get straight back in and work with data and process driven people in a positive environment. Please do reach out with any opportunities.(ends)

Thanks for that 👍

Interesting, very interesting indeed.
Very well written and comes across decent in it.

i saw a linkedin message from him earlier saying he had been dismissed too
It’s with a heavy heart that I have to say my time at Swansea City has come to a premature end in unexpected circumstances. We had an outstanding summer in which we successfully overhauled the squad improving the quality of the starting XI, adding greater depth and increasing the asset value within the playing staff. I’d like to say a massive thanks firstly to Andrew McGregor who came in and brought outstanding worldwide market knowledge and an incredible passion to make positive change. Secondly to Connor Rowden who has the most detailed emerging talent knowledge of anyone I have ever worked with and an invaluable ability to challenge the lazy norms that can exist in football. Without both of them working by my side we could never have achieved what we did and identified so many of the targets that ended up signing for the club. The club will sadly be losing a huge depth of knowledge with their departure. Lastly to Richard Montague, who has shown great trust in me throughout my career and handed me the opportunity to step into this role. Most importantly he is one of football’s good guys who gives everything for the job, acts with integrity and shows care for those around him. Without these qualities the club could never have secured the deals it did over the summer. It was an absolute pleasure to work so closely again and I took great pride in how we worked in tandem to bring the likes of Cameron Burgess and Zeidane Inoussa to the club at a difficult time when the club didn’t have a permanent Manager. I was excited for our vision moving forward continuing to modernise the talent ID processes of the club and to overhaul the reporting structure to bring increased granularity and improve both information flow and decision making. However, the club has decided to move in a different direction under the new strategy. This chapter has ended earlier than I would have liked, but I am incredibly happy with what we achieved in my 6 months with the club. We signed some outstanding players and characters in a testing environment and the playing squad is in a far better place than when we arrived. It’s been widely accepted that the club has had the best window in its recent history and for that I am incredibly proud. I hope this group we helped put together can go on and achieve the success they’re capable of this season and beyond. I am now looking for the next opportunity and open to work immediately. Please feel free to reach out with any potential roles to work in a process driven, forward thinking environment!

Invisible man Mr Worth you mean?
Hmm!
This piece assumes various bits of the scouting structure have gone too
