Talks a good game, but no doubt so did Cooper.

He needs time and a bit of patience from us though. It won't be an easy or quick process to undo two years worth of Cooperball and get the team playing attractive stuff again. FWIW I believe he's got better players to do it with than many others do as I think Scott has been targeting technically capable players from the off.

Midfield is the key for me. Everything we get for Grimes could probably do with being reinvested back into the centre of the park.

Yep, sounds good. Emotionally intelligent, driven and likes to play good football. What's not to like? He'll need some help from the owners and Winter next though.

Weirdest reaction is probably from my Mrs - "he's not much to look at". Er, did you ever see Cooper?

Fair's fair, she was probably mentally comparing him with your good self.

I thought he spoke fairly well, he did point out that it will take time for his methods to bed in, what the fans will be looking for is us trying to play the right way even if sometimes the players get it wrong.

If they get it as wrong as MK yesterday the reaction would be “interesting”

He would have been looking for assurances over player sales and recruitment, etc - I’m hopeful that part of the discussions would have involved him ether getting the club to put off selling Grimes or getting them to agree to a suitable replacement. Grimes in a side with movement and purpose ahead of him would be very useful.

Hopefully the latter.

There may be something I'm missing but I've never been much of a Grimes fan. If we've managed to get anyone to pay approaching £4m for him I'd much rather have the cash to reinvest.

If he goes he’ll be one that got away. We haven’t been particularly ‘good’ for a couple of years but when we have been decent Grimes has been at the heart of it. Everything goes through him and he’s gold to a decent manager building a side, Potter was starting to build around him

That’s all very well but can he eat an apricot through a chain link fence?

I loved that he kept repeating 'identity'
This is the most excited I've been for a season for a while now

It sounds like he has some signings lined up, and that he's happy with a lot of the squad

I also think he's someone who's admired us for a while and that he's always considered coming here
