Looking forward to bringing in a team ….

This is the most excited I've been for a season for a while now
It sounds like he has some signings lined up, and that he's happy with a lot of the squad
I also think he's someone who's admired us for a while and that he's always considered coming here

If they get it as wrong as MK yesterday the reaction would be “interesting”

A league 1 side vs a championship team with a premier league squad that also plays football was rarely going to end in any other way than it did

"Premier league squad"... bit of a stretch that

Hopefully the latter.
There may be something I'm missing but I've never been much of a Grimes fan. If we've managed to get anyone to pay approaching £4m for him I'd much rather have the cash to reinvest.

First name on the team sheet for me. He does far more work in front of the defence than he ever gets credit for. A ball winning, deep lying playmaker that you could base Martin’s style around. There were about 4 or 5 times that S’ton could run from their own half straight at our defence yesterday through our massive hole in midfield. Most wouldn’t have happened with Matty in there. He’d also have been an outlet for the many times we struggled to play out from the keeper.
He’s not Pirlo and he’s not Leon. But he’s the best we’ve had since Leon.
From a morale point too it’ll be bad if he goes. Losing your captain to a rival suggests we’ve given up on promotion. Hopefully Martin’s first job is to persuade him to stay.
Give me the very underrated Fulton every time, a player who could easily fill the Grimes roll and not afraid to put his body on the line... 4 million for Grimes mind, fùckin daylight robbery :lol:Longlostjack said:LeonWasTheDog's said:First name on the team sheet for me. Agree absolutely. He does a lot of work off the ball closing down space. That was clearly missing yesterday.

It doesn’t have to be one or the other. Very different players. It’s correct to say that Fulton is not afraid of a tackle but where people are incorrect is when they call him a ball winning or holding midfielder because of it. Fulton is very much an attacking midfielder, a very good footballer in fact, and Grimes is a deep lying playmaker. Apples and oranges.
