• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

At an age approaching 76, and as a retired semi-pro guitarist, my tastes vary. As per my moniker on here I was, and still am, a huge Bluenile fan (not a Scummer as one numpty thought). 5 years between the first album and the second wasn't due to laziness, but purely a matter of quality over quantity. Others are Steely Dan, anything with Donald Fagen's name on it, Boz Scaggs. Guitar-wise, Robben Ford. Jazz, including Wes Montgomery, Chet Baker, and probably the best live gig in Swansea this year, Jamie Cullum.

Great to know there’s another Jazz fan here, we’ve had many great guitarists at the club. Have you been to the club? More to the point do I know you?🤔

Yes, I've been to the club on many occasions. My favourite gigs there are when Hamish Stuart (ex Average White Band) and his band play. Now postponed til at least next Spring. The club seems to be changing venues too often, lately.

Was listening to "across the rooftops" earlier. Whilst I typically like pretty alternative stuff, it's such a beautiful record. There's an alternate universe where 'Tinseltown in the Rain' was number one for weeks.

Venues for our jazz club are quite plentiful at the moment as our last venue unfortunately closed, so please keep an eye on the website for all latest info
Great guitarist Remi Harris playing his Man Of The World show in February (Peter Green style)
Tickets going very, very quickly.

The venue changes are beyond the club’s control at the moment. Cu Mumbles, our last place has closed its doors and finding a suitable venue is tricky as size of crowd varies for different events obviously. We are currently in negotiations with a few places within Swansea and have already booked a few in the Grand Theatre Arts Wing for next year. Hamish is definitely on the cards again, will be a superb show as always.

Just to add …
Swansea Jazz Club, in its various guises, is the longest running weekly jazz club in Britain
It will be 76 years this year and hoping to carry on supporting LIVE music for many years to come.

He’s been to see Dweezil Zappa mind. 👀
Yes, we were both there on that night, Dar, but somehow you managed a photo with Dweezil, not like you 😂. I was always proud when my daughter was young and in the car with me, off to her dance/acting class, and she'd ask me to put Frank on the car stereo! 😂
