• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

There was never a decision to reverse.

The only reversing going on here is with Itchy and his exclusives

You’re absolutely bonkers if you think that’s true. I get it, you’ve fallen for it, and you can gloat if you think it’s wise but I can assure you that he will be gone before he ever achieves anything worthy of you man/boy love. 100% FACT. 🤣

I know, for a 100% fact it isn’t true.

By the way, I’m not gloating, I don’t think you’re a liar, when it was you who said it I was a bit concerned. But turns out you got fed wrong info, and that is a fact.

Cooper delivered 2 playoff finishes and we binned him off

Did we though? He listened to what backing the club were offering, and decided he couldn't stomach another season of the same. He smelt the coffee and decided it smelt more like shit than pure 100% Arabica coffee beans.

Whatever people may feel about Martin (and I'm not exactly a fan), dismissing a manager after we have just finished 10th in the Championship and 3 points off the playoffs would be bonkers.

Equally, we can't really have a manager going into the last season of his contract for all sorts of reasons so I don't see what other choice we have.

Personally think this is the right decision.

A new contract will make a lot of fans happy, he will get one, I just hope it works out but I think it'll be more of the same .

I’m with you on this one Carehomeforoldjerk, more of the same undefeated in ten, glad to see you have come to your senses.

I know it was a 'mutual decision', but you think a club would make more effort to keep a manager with his record here. Instead both sides seemed happy to call it quits.

I wouldn't be surprised if something similar happens this summer, but hopefully it would all be sorted earlier this time if so.

I think this late season run has bought him the right to have a third crack at it next season. But our performances over the last 2 seasons have not shown anything like enough to earn another contract.

Cooper delivered 2 playoff finishes and we binned him off, Martin has finished 15th and 10th and earned a new contract offer? I'll remain sceptical this is true until a new deal is actually signed.

We all know Martin is pushing his side of the story (I see the January transfer window got another mention today in his reasons we didn't finish higher), maybe this is the club putting out their own spin?

Cooper had 3 times the budget and a better squad. I’m largely disinterested in whether Martin stays or goes, but his job has been much harder (albeit partly due to players signed under him, like Fisher and Sorinola).

On the balance of things I think you are right. The last nine games have saved his job although there were times on Monday where the kamikaze defending was taking us back six months. You would think that after two years he would have worked this out and I hazard that the end of season review won’t be a completely positive discussion. On this basis I would set him some stringent targets for the autumn with the promise of a new deal if he succeeds.

Careful with the Cooper comment. Much of the parachute payment money had already been earmarked for softening the blow of relegation and the contracts that couldn’t be cancelled.

Doubt it was 3 times; but Cooper had a significantly bigger budget. Winter, and I think even owners have confirmed that.

I think the " we have a young team" tag for poor performances won't wash next season.
