You’ve got to hand it to the Conservative ‘machine’ though. They really know which ‘buttons’ to press with the ‘great’ British voting public to get re-elected. They know that at least 20% of them are outright racists and another 20% are Xenophobic and easily manipulated. If they can pull off a reasonable performance in the next election with every facet of British life as awful as it is right now using a Conservative-manufactured human tragedy then, fair play, they’ve played a blinder and we deserve what we get. Although I love the historical growth of the Unions which achieved the ‘democracy’ we enjoy today (opposed by the Conservatives at every step), even I have started to consider the benefits of an IQ based qualification for voting.

It's amazing how they've been allowed to paint Lineker's comments as being about the Holocaust itself rather than the build up to it. It would take a minimal amount of research to look up what the Nazi government was saying in the 1930's about non-Aryans and compare it to Tory quotes about immigrants. Present examples to them and force them to answer on whether the language is similar or not.

It's impressive that many of the Tory ministers who they've wheeled out to rebuke Lineker have family who fled Germany or escaped the Holocaust. It's almost as if they're specially selecting them to strengthen their point, which is unrelated to what Lineker said of course. There's a strong whiff of 'I'm not racist, but...' or 'I've got black friends...' about their response.

Yes, the direction of travel since 2016 is shocking and extremely disturbing to anyone with an ounce of intelligence or historical perspective. We are heading into a very dark place.

As the Tory poster boy put it, "Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it". For all his failings, he would be appalled by this bunch I reckon.

The government knows it won’t stand of course. This is purely designed so they can say “well we tried but the bloody Europeans and WOKE leftie human rights lawyers stopped us”. And their thick voters will lap it all up.

They are going to spend the next 18 months throwing as much nasty shit at the wall to try and get their base energised for an election. I’d say about 32% of the electorate is their absolute bottom floor and they know they can’t hold their existing voting coalition together so they’ll just throw as much red meat to their base as possible while attempting to drag labour into a sh*t fight on their level. This country is going to become an even nastier and divided place, and probably even more so if the Tories know they are going to lose. At the minute the Tory press and parliamentary party appear to be completely oblivious to their impending electoral hammering because they are too busy winning all the arguments that only exist in their own bubble.
