New Manager

We need to stop this merry-go-round of hiring random inexperienced lower league British managers or very inexperienced coaches or assistant managers. Something has to change, otherwise sacking LW was pointless.

So a lot of the people that are being suggested as "on the shortlist" are extremely concerning to me.
Spot on

Odds on them hoping Sheehan can scrape together a few wins/draws to get us to safety and them either giving it to him till the end of the season or hiring someone risky once we are safe, like some of the above or Tatey etc.?

Whoever it is, please no more of this vanity of playing guys out of position. 2nd rate managers all insist on doing it to prove how 'insightful' they are, the guy has one decent half hour and they do the whole "I wuz right!" thing. Never mind the fact that he's lost and useless the rest of the time, the God manager has shown the world how it should be done.

All it says is they've run out of ideas, have no idea of how to get a tune out of the team, and they're just desperately casting around hoping something will turn up.

The problem with the random inexperienced guys is that when they were being hired by us 10-15 years ago, they were stepping into a club in a good position, doing all the right things. Even if you go back to Cooper, at least we had parachute payments (and he left as soon as those ran out).

Now, we have mainly poor players, dreadful recruitment and are only going one way. Even if the random inexperienced manager has a lot of potential, they probably won't realise it here.

The only way out of it for me now is an experienced head who won't set the world on fire but will steady us through 18 months or so by which point hopefully we can sort the recruitment out, bring on a few younger players and set a bit of a foundation.

I just don't see someone like Ryan Mason and so on a) wanting to come and b) being up to the ridiculously hard job he'll have on his hands here.

We do not need another lower league bullshit merchant. Mind you, the thought of the likes of Edwards chills my bones too. If it's someone that needs to prove himself or rehabilitate just give him a contract with break clauses and performance conditions. It might cost a few bob more to get that agreed, but longer term the savings of a cock up (and Andy is always at home to Mr Cock Up) would be significant. If he's successful we may lose him for nothing as break clauses work both ways, but there we are...if he puts us back on the right path so be it.

Since the Americans took over, we usually sign people from the Sh1tlist!!

Karel Geraerts

Having a good read up on this guy today. Might be an interesting shout.

If Sheehan gets us enough points for safety then I’m happy waiting for the right appointment to be made for the summer, a lot of managers won’t fancy coming in this late into a season I’d imagine, especially any credible managers.

No joke here family member who lives in Birmingham works with Rob Edward’s mother in law, she’s saying he wants the job here but he’s out of the country due to kids half term in England, I’ll try and find out more as the week goes by 🤷‍♂️ he turned Derby down as they offered him a contract till end of the season.

Update - Lives in Birmingham with his wife and kids and are settled and won’t move, he travelled back and forth to Luton from there which is a quicker route than getting here, see what happens, but I’d rather someone who’s living in the city or near by to be honest.
