Enjoy the summer too Perch 👍

Swimming is much better down "the" Gower than the Wirral though so don't forget to avoid the sewerage overflows

Tiki-taka and passing all over the pitch is very out at the moment, but I thought yesterday's goal, with all the passing in front of their box was great. Better than hoofing it into the big man in the box and high-pressing.

Seriously I learned very early in life the dangers of swimming in quarries . There was one in Cockett ,if my memory serves me right, and a lad drowned in it. My dad did some work with Mr Attwell and he went to the scene to recover the body . He never forgot .

Quarry water is very very cold but tempting. If someone reads this and thinks twice then it d do me.
What the phuck is Perch ,by the way. I see references to it all the time .

I know we won yesterday. I'm glad of course, I love the Swans. But is it just me....I'm bored stiff with the type of football we play.

Don't get me wrong. As per Wigan goal we can sometimes play some lovely football - though we have to be conscious of the opposition standard. And the Cardiff double was great - tbh that's our season there. I can tolerate the fist pumps on those occasions.

Not so good of course have been those late awful defensive lapses.

But for the bulk of our playing time, I'm just, well ..bored.

There is little pace. Very few attempts to dribble past an opposition player. Pass pass pass while their defence just watches us. The box gets filled up. No way through. Back and recycle etc etc.

I don't look forward to games. It's become a chore. But I'll go anyway. But I do so yearn for some more entertainment.

Is it just me ?

I go to the game with my old man every other weekend and he said the same to me at the weekend. He actually misses matches now as he'd rather stay at home and work on the garden.

It's abysmal football. And our fans are simple folk at times - cause we've scraped a few 1-0 wins, they're happy again.

We've got this next season. Another year of passing back to the keeper.

SIck of it.

I've been as critical as anyone about our turgid football in many, many matches this and last season.

Saturday, like other times recently was much better and I quite enjoyed our endeavours to break down a team who put everyone behind the ball and hoped for a set piece goal. I am surprised that some of our supporters can't accept that we sometimes play quite well under Martin and they can't acknowledge as such.

We had 19 goal attempts on Saturday which was far and away the most in the entire division. That didn't happen by constantly passing back to the goalkeeper.

Hopefully our improvement will continue for what's left of this season and for the whole of next season.

I was ok with Saturday too. Even Lati did a good thing and had a shot. I'd like to see us shoot more and run into gaps. Wood has started doing it, and I think Darling could do it. Grimes and fulton need to do it more. Cooper needs to play and/or Walsh, then I think things might actually progress.

Sometimes good is true. Sometimes awful defending is true.

But in the main, over 46 games, we are just...boring to watch.

Don't get me wrong...I'm happy we aren't in a relegation battle...but equally, mid table passing to death mediocrity isn't enjoyable.

I just want some entertainment, and pace and some greater variation in our style.

Yes we won Saturday, just about , 1-0 , an own goal against a typical Warnock side....but like other draws or narrow wins ( forget the losses!) I left the ground, well.... bored.

But I'll be there again next season...just hoping for less boredom is all.

Great post that.

People / posters keep painting themselves into a corner about players and managers, and once they've made their mind up about someone there's no chance of changing their mind.

I wanted Martin out, probably still leaning that way slightly, but I can appreciate a change over the last 5 games or so. When we win, the corner painters say it's because the other teams were rubbish. Those same people were crying on here weekly when the so called bigger boys used to say the same when they lost to us.

The premier league has ruined it for many of our fans.

I'm still leaning Martin out and have not been a fan of his, but I want to be proven wrong. The recent run has been promising and I thought the performance on the weekend was fantastic. Our style of play does not match up well against a team coming here to put 11 men behind the ball and hope for a goal from a set piece, yet we won and had 19 shots on goal.

I'm not getting my hopes up though because we've seen this multiple times now over the past 2 seasons. A run of form, we move up the table, we all get excited, then we go on an equally poor run of results.

On matchday 36 last year, we started a run of 4 wins out of 5 games (the other was a draw) and drew the next 4 before losing the final 2 games of the season. The 4 draws isn't that bad, but it did include the capitulations against Reading and Bournemouth when we really should have held on to leads.

We won on matchday 38 this season, ending a terrible run of 3 wins in 21 games. Since then, we've won 4 out of 5, drawing the remaining game. Are the similarities a coincidence or proof of something about Martin's management?

I hope we continue to play well and get some wins from the remaining 4 games. If Martin is still here next season, it would be great to go into the summer on a high. My feeling is he won't be here though. Just like Cooper 2 summer's ago, he knows we'll lose players and are unlikely to get good replacements, so it will be very hard to improve next season. Again, I hope I'm very, very wrong.
