Our support…

I’ll say it again, those huge empty blocks in the corners are awful.
It would mean the world to the kids in mini/junior football and schools if they got to go to a game with their mates.
My kids age group got to go for the Middlesbrough match 2 years ago. Loads of teams, filled a whole block in the North West, £10 an adult, £1 a child.
Everyone’s a winner, bonnet de douche.
Spot on.

The club should be doing more to attract the supporters of tomorrow. The match day experience is crap, the Trust think they did a great job improving match days by playing day dream believer before kick off.

It's not just about turning up.. a lot of fans add travel costs to the games.

I've cut back drastically the last 2 seasons for home games. I've struggled to justify £150 on match day to watch bland walking football.
Add in the fact that the majority of games can be watched on TV

I agree GB. The fan of tomorrow is created by enticing folk into an attractive outlook, and that’s not always about the quality of football. Kids for a quid, or something similar with schools or junior clubs could do so much for match day atmosphere, grass roots clubs, families who are struggling financially, etc.
The divide between the club and supporters has never been so wide.

The trust are so far out of touch it's an absolute farce, they've become a parody of a supporters trust.

Yeah OK. A Preston who if you are totally honest were dogshit. Decent 30mins v scum, an own goal from Norwich and a performance v Wycombe which was indescribable.
Away...crap/barely a shot at boro...and west brom should have scored 7.
Not negative, just realistic. We've signed a striker who's basically a parks player, and have a manager who is a fraud.
Been watching us for 45 yrs, think I'm qualified to describe what I'm seeing.

Yea so what you're saying is you've decided to stop watching us because you don't think we're currently very good. I get it.

Isn't that the epitome of fair weather supporting though? Especially when that breaking point is the championship, which is, for Swansea City, punching at or above our weight. Support the team not the regime.

I could understand it more if there was a genuine boycott protest against the ownership. But there isn't. Generally it is purely fair weathery as evidenced by increased gate at the derby.

I don't think labels like "fairweather" or "plastic" help anyone to be honest. You're trying to apply simplistic conclusions/labels to something that is a lot more complex.

If it makes you feel better to have a pop at other supporters because it makes you feel superior to them or whatever, then crack on. But I certainly won't be joining you.

Well if deciding not to go games because the team isn't doing very well isn't fair weather, I don't know what is?

If people are going to take that decision, you need to own it.

The club and players need our support so sorry if anyone's feelings have been hurt but you're choice and you'll have to live with it.

Given the population and catchment area we should be getting much bigger crowds than the likes of Blackburn and Burnley, literally small towns in Lancashire

Again, sounds simple but it really isn't as cut and dried as that.

Those two clubs - indeed most English clubs - don't have to contend with local and regional rugby as a competitor for people's attention. While football remains the most popular sport in Wales by attendance and participation, it will always haemorrhage an element of support to the oval ball game. Especially in South Wales.

Chuck into the mix that we live in a comparatively poor area economically, the fact there are other distractions for people, and the fact our owners are arseholes who don't care about the club and people have slowly concluded that if they don't care then why should we, it all adds up.

It's not just about the team not doing very well though. There's far more to it than just that. There are several factors in the mix.

Again, use your divisive labels if you want, but it doesn't change the fact it's not as simple as you want to make it out to be.

You’d have enjoyed Saturday. A quiet back end to the first half, but other than that it was as good a day out as we’ve had down there for a while.

Swansea has a much bigger population than either Blackburn and Burnley and both towns have large ethnic populations that aren't very interested in following their local teams. Swansea also has a larger catchment area with no big rival clubs nearby.

But to accentuate the positive the size of the city and population gives an indication of the potential. It's just that we can't assume the fans will just turn up. We just need to work harder on promoting and marketing the club.
